When I go to Istanbul, and I have been there 7 or 8 times, I would not think of staying anyplace else. The only reason I did not give the hotel 10 stars is because it may not have all the chi-chi amenities some people look for, like swimming pool or health club. I don't need these as I get all the exercise I need doing the best thing you can do in Istanbul, and that is walking all over city. By the way, this area of town is super safe and one need not worry about its' location.

The location, price, staff and services were perfect. It is the place to stay while visiting the charming, old city of Istanbul.

Top Local Tips for Istanbul
excercise caution Our one and only taxi experience left us choosing public transport system for everymore while in Istanbul, which is no hassle to figure out. Go to the Tourise Information Office, aquire a map, pay for your tram fare at the booth near the boarding gates usual standard rate of 1.30YTL They give you a coin in return which you insert into the turnstiles to let you through. Be very careful with taxi drivers despite saying they use a meter and no worries. Our guy made off with more than we were prepared for on top of his fare. Good idea before boarding is to take the number plate down first or get his photo for your family album, unfortunately we had neither.
July in Istanbul I'd wondered whether Istanbul would be overwhelmed by tourists and hideously hot in July but was pleasantly surprised that it was neither. Week 2 was much busier in terrms of tourist numbers than Week 1 (some cruise ships in town I think) but not annoyingy so and still not very busy according to restauranteurs - most restaurants were quite empty. It was warm - low 30s - but that was manageable as there was AC in my hotel and a cold Efes beer was readily available!
Evening in Ramadan near Blue Mosque Visit the area around the Blue Mosque in the evenings during Ramadan. Lovely atmosphere with music, fairy lights, lot of yummy food stalls ( not expensive) and lots of locals out and about enjoying the time after breaking the fast. The Blue Mosque is beautifully lit up and the call to prayer adds to the atmosphere.

It is within walking distance of many of the major sights of the city, Blue Mosque, Sofia Museum, Topkapi palace, Great Underground Sistern
and close to the tramway. As it is located in the heart of the city it is full of the atmosphere of a Eurasian city.
We have given it top marks, bearing in mind its category, because of the size and cleanliness of the rooms and the very helpful staff and manager Omer.
