Brilliant location & very helpful manager

My wife and I stayed for 4 days in total and found the hotel excellent and ideally suited to our our purpose which was to see as much of Istanbul as we could. It is within walking distance of many of the major sights of the city, Blue Mosque, Sofia Museum, Topkapi palace, Great Underground Sistern and close to the tramway.As it is located in the heart of the city it is full of the atmosphere of a Eurasian city. We have given it top marks, bearing in mind its category, because of the size and cleanliness of the rooms and the very helpful staff and manager Omer.

Friendly accomodating staff, great location, small but quaint clean rooms. Would consider staying there if we were to visit Istanbul again.

Grreat value, location, and service staff

I have stayed at the Hippodrome Hotel 2 times, once in summer 2005 and Spring 2006. Each time I had a clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced room. The great part is that its' location is just a 5 minute walk from the Sultanemet Mosque, St. Sophia, Topkapi Palace,and the Great underground Sistern. It is just 10 minutes from the Grand Bazaar. The Sultanemet tram line is just 5 minutes walk as are the bus lines that will take you anywhere in the city. The great thing is that while you are in the center of the historic part of town, staying at this hotel is like being in a quiet suburb. Breakfast is taken at a rooftop resteurant overlooking the Sea of Marmara. When I go to Istanbul, and I have been there 7 or 8 times, I would not think of staying anyplace else. The only reason I did not give the hotel 10 stars is because it may not have all the chi-chi amenities some people look for, like swimming pool or health club. I don't need these as I get all the exercise I need doing the best thing you can do in Istanbul, and that is walking all over city. By the way, this area of town is super safe and one need not worry about its' location.

The best Hotel ever!

I've traveled extensively. I've been to England, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Chile, Argentina, Switzerland, Turkey, Vancouver, Canada, and even as far as Antarctica! Taking all that into account, the Hippodrome was the most relaxing, clean, charming hotel I've ever stayed. The location, price, staff and services were perfect. It is the place to stay while visiting the charming, old city of Istanbul.
