One of the best hotels ever. Its a woderful experience to stay here. Amzing rooms, wonderfull rich bathrooms. Top service and inspiring ambience. Former prison turned into a top address close to all the attractions. Super expensive. A cup of coffee to the room is like $35.

Perfect Hotel

This hotel is perfect. The recent reviews are correct in its praise. It is an oasis from the bustle. It is in a great location for walking to the main sights ( check out the underground resevoir )

The food was presented perfectly and the staff fantastic. ( oh and the taxi they called me was new clean and cost half for the same journey compared to the one we called from a restaurant)

A little piece of heaven

There is a quiet calmness about the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul. After being bombarded all day by the intense and wonderful sights and sounds of Istanbul, it was a delight to arrive in the hotel's uncluttered spacious lobby and reception rooms. The hotel location is also an added plus as it is near all the biggies - Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Season's Restaurant, an intimate, peaceful glass-walled eatery was exceptional. The chef's artichoke confit for an appetizer was pure heaven.

The staff was top notch and provided highly-attentive customer service. I am allergic to chocolate and every time I returned back to my hotel room at night they had some type of Turkish delicacy that I could enjoy. From the doorman to the Reception Desk to the Concierge Department, the service was seamless. You could feel they were proud to be part of the Four Seasons team and wanted to make your stay pleasant. I wish their attitude could be implemented into Corporate America (!)

Would I go back there? Absolutely. Even though it was pricey, it was worth every cent.

Was only going to stay one night because of the price, but ended up staying here four nights. I have stayed at several four seasons, this was the best of the lot. Immaculate rooms, attentive and friendly staff, and a truly great location for in Istanbul if you plan to take in all the sights.

I only stayed in the Four Seasons for one night. It was a business trip and we arrived after midnight and left at 7am - but let me tell you!!

I have stayed at the Kempinski in Istanbul before and the Four Seasons is just so much better. Apparently, the building used to be a prison, which makes the architecture very interesting. The rooms are huge and beautiful, the bathrooms are the best bathrooms I have seen in a hotel - just amazing. The view from my balcony was - Hagia Sophia. Very impressive!

I would recommend that if you have a choice, stay in the Four Seaons over the Kempinski.

Four Seasons Restaurant

If you are looking for an "authentic" hotel I would not recomend the 4 seasons even though it is in an ancient prison it definately feels more european than byzantine. However, I do recomend the restaurant as it was the best meal we had in turkey. I'm sure the dishes were modified for tourists but gives you a better idea of what turkish food is supposed to be as apposed to many of the tourist traps on the main streets. The number of different flavors in each dish was amazing. The mezze assorted appetizers plate is a must. Plus being the four seasons, the service was ofcourse impecable. Nice relaxing stop after hectic days in the streets and bazaars. Ofcourse more expensive than most but worth it.

I stayed 4 days to four seasons,the hotel is 5 star in central position next to main attractions,but there is a big but.The service was average,we order a chapange in our room and it cames after 1 hour!!
also the hotel was a prison and it just gives you the feeling of a luxurious renovated old ottoman prison,so i feel a luxurious prissoner in one way,furtermore cause the service had cold soul.An other negative was the price,i expect much more luxury ,bigger spaces,better service,not so many noise at afternoons and drinks from a five star hotel when you have to pay over 300 euros for a room.A nice hotel without soul.

We stayed for five nights at the Four Seasons in Istanbul, a building that was once a prison (Midnight Express was supposed to have taken place here). It is one of the most attractive hotels we have ever stayed in, wonderful and helpful staff, fantastic location, excellent food, and not too large (only sixty rooms). We cannot praise it enough.

The Four Seasons has everything you expect from a five star metropolitan hotel in a splendid setting: spacious, well-furnished rooms, a relaxed and nice atmosphere, highly attentive service etc. What makes this place very special are three things:
(a) The location is brilliant. Situated right between the major sights in Istanbul, you can have the incredible experience of having your aperitif on the roof terrace with a spectacular view of Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Bosporus all at the same time.
(b) The service is one of the best we have had in recent years. Special thanks to Harun, the concierge, who hit the spot with his dinner recommendations every night we stayed there.
(c) The small things: These start with the "welcome home" at the front door if you return from the 24h traffic jam in Istanbul. If you have placed your book on the nightstand, you may find a bookmark on top of it in the evening. Instead of packaged chocolate for the evening, you'll find a real desert plate with Turkish baclava or pralines in your room when you come back in the evening. These are the small things that make the difference in hotels of this category.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and can only recommend it highly. If in Istanbul, we'll be back.

Perfect Accommodations!

My husband and I stayed at the Four Seasons 6 days prior to taking the Orient Express last month and it was a heavenly stay. Even though we had a regular deluxe room (approximately 450 square feet!), we were treated like royalty. The hotel itself is stunning (site of a former prison) and is conveniently located in the Sultanehmet area, walking distance to the Blue Mosque, the Haghia Sophia and the trams. Every hotel employee was courteous and addressed us by surname; lush bedsheets; large marble bathroom with a separate tub and shower (plush towels and L'Occitane bath products) and three large windows which opened onto a beautiful courtyard. Hotel services were excellent and prompt, from room service to laundry to concierge. Even though it's not located near the Bospherus, the ambiance and class this hotel exudes is worth the splurge!

A Great Hotel

My partner and I just returned from three nights at the Four Seasons Istanbul. It was one of the best hotel experiences we have every had. The location of the hotel is so convenient, just steps from everything. Our room was very spacious, with a nice seating area, and a beautiful bath and dressing area. The a/c worked perfectly, which was not the case at the world famous hotel we had just left elsewhere in Europe. Best of all, the service was phenomenal ... from check-in to check-out. Everybody, from the concierge to the waiters on the roof top bar could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Special kudos to the wonderful waiter on the dining room terrace who made our meal there extra special.

We were also grateful for the great car service to the airport. They didn't just get us there on time, but they also had someone help us negotiate the airport by taking us and our luggage to the airline check-in desk and then to passport control. What a service.

Finally, we had one of those magical moments in life while we were having drinks on the roof top bar. A bright, full moon rose over the Bosphorus to our left, while at the same time we were watching the Blue Mosque light show on our right. What hotel could top that! I have always thought Four Seasons Hotels were the best...but this property is incredible.

Top Local Tips for Istanbul

Mosque of Süleyman I the Magnificent is CLOSED for two years Just a word of warning to anyone wanting to trek over to the Suleyman Mosque. It is closed for renovation for the next two years. You can walk into one small part of it, but the great majority of it is walled off with a massive white wooden wall. There are booths at the open entrances asking for donations to enter the grounds, so if you pay and then go into the mosque expecting to be wowed, you won't be wowed. Hope this advice helps someone.

Rent a Taxi for all the time you stay there, always ready for you and cheeper. We arrange a one taxi driver to service us for the time we were in Istanbul, from 10 am to 12 midnight,flat rate, was very helpfull, and same taxi driver we felt more comfertable, and he was always ready to take us anywhere.he knows all the right placeses to take us, like a personal tour guide,worth it.

Beware of inflated prices. Make sure that you are not pressured into buying rugs, jewelry or leather goods at inflated prices. If it seems too expensive, walk away. If your tour guide takes you to a shop, be aware that they will be getting a kickback around 20%. It is better to never go into a shop accompanied by a tour guide, and even then, you need to negotiate a hard bargain. After all is said and done, you still might pay too much, so make sure that the merchandise is unique and not available in your home country.
