Top Local Tips for Istanbul

General I have had a few friends who were 'robbed' in Istanbul. Make sure you don't go off with anyone. Though I think the vast majority are really nice people. Most shops have prices in Euro or USD which is dumb, as I think they have a good opportunity with their YTL. So be prepared to pay big bucks for things that one could buy washable copies of at Walmart. You can get a good deal if you go to brand name stores, depending on where the YTL stands that day. The historical sites are above and beyond par. I found all museum prices excellent.

Stay anywhere but the Cinar I had such a negative experience at the Cinar Hotel that I wanted to broadcast as widely as possible that others should avoid it.
