The group was delighted with the location, the quality of the rooms and the renovations and architecture. Your staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. The internet was a great feature and we enjoyed not only the quality of the food both at the street level cafe and the terrace, but also the attentive and helpful service. The staff were most accomodating for special requests and out of the ordinary questions. In addition, we all felt that Hasan was trying to anticipate the needs of his guests at each step. As we visited during the World Cup semi-finals and finals, it was particularly nice that while we were located on a lively and vibrant street just a few steps from both the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet) and the Hagia Sophia, the rooms remained quiet even during the celebrations of Italia's victory.
Many thanks and you can be assured that I will book the Acropol for my next personal trip to Istanbul as well as any groups I may have traveling to Turkey.

during the Turkey F1 weekend........
First problem.
Could not sleep 1st night because of the racket of the bars outside - until at least 3am each night. (used my F1 ear plugs in the end). The problem was proliferated by the fact there were many youth (backpacker) hostels, located around this hotel.
Cant fault the location ....... walking distance to all the top attractions. Second problem. Suite room was not worth the money...somebody told me that the star system works different in turkey - basically knock 2 stars off every thing - and you get the idea. Good points. Location - Staff were nice (particullary the bar man waiter called Steve). Also - away from the Hotel
A general tip. As soon as you walk the streets in the day you will be approached by many CON MEN
Shoe shiners - rug sellers - Hawkers etc etc
its unfortunate, but they spot you a mile off...... engage you in a chit chat then move in for the kill
best advice I would give - ignore anyone who approaches you uninvited, it may seem a bit harsh... but it will save you money in the long term.

Fine hotel in a great location
from VICruzanReasonable Hotel in a Great Location
from njpollardThe hotel is ideally located in Istanbul's Old Town, just five minutes walk from the main tourist attractions of Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace.
The first thing you see on entering the hotel is the pokey reception/lounge area with a bar and TV in the corner. The rather garish antique furnishings and decor didn't immediately fill us with confidence, but the professional and friendly attitude of the reception staff was encouraging.
We were allocated a room on the second floor, with a view of a brick wall a few feet from the window, and a very strong smell of cooking food coming through the open window. Once we'd closed this and turned the air-conditioning on, the smell went away, and apart from the view, the room wasn't too bad. The room contained a mini bar and satellite TV with channels including BBC Prime, and we also had free wireless internet access. The somewhat eccentric porter brought our cases to the room, and eagerly showed us around.
On heading to the restaurant for dinner, we were somewhat surprised to find that the porter was also the head waiter. Dinner in the rooftop restaurant was excellent - in fact some of the best food we had in Turkey, and once we'd got used to the waiter's pantomime antics we were able to enjoy the stunning view of Hagia Sophia and The Blue Mosque from the restaurant.
If I were returning to Istanbul, I'd probably book this hotel again, but I'd request a room with a view next time.
great location
from blackcattelcoA Great Hotel!!
from AnnmarieTorontoDue to mine and my wife's busy work schedules this thank is very late. We had a lovely holiday at your Hotel this past May for two weeks (May 5 thru 19/07)
You have to be congratulated for having such a super Hotel and staff! From the moment we arrived at your Hotel we were so well looked after it was like a second home. We would like to commend Serkan who is such a hard worker and super person. From the time he picked us up at the airport and throughout our holiday he was always so helpfull and such a gentleman. Also Derya who welcomed us and also assisted us in changing our room to one at the front of the Hotel with a lovely balcony.
Again all of your front desk managing staff were always there with a smile and very professional administration and help. The breakfasts we enjoyed for two weeks were like being in heaven the food and service were second to none. Your staff both at the breakfast room and rooftop restaurant and bar were great!
We look forward to travelling back to Turkey next year and would love to stay at the Hotel Acropol again. Till next year thank you and your staff, see you then.
Yours truly,
Ann & Anthony Hume

Extremely disappointing
from RSMDMuserI arrived and at the check-in they surprisingly told me that “a little problem occurred since the computer did non work properly” and thus my room for the first night did not exist. They moved me to a close hotel (“Tria”), which is of a lower category, in an ugly twin bedded room at ground floor basically without windows. In fact, in front of my window there were roughly 100 centimetres and then a tall grey wall; between my window (without iron bars) and the wall someone left a cement bag. Therefore, the room was completely dark. I complained with Tria staff and they told me that it was last available room. I also complained with Acropol staff, without results. Acropol offered me a dinner in the hotel restaurant as indemnity but I had to paid for the drinks (half litre of water sold at 5 liras, while you paid it 0,50 liras at supermarket). The second and the third nights they granted me the requested room.
When I checked-out, the second bad surprise: incredibly they tried to refuse the 10% discount for cash payment (agreed by email and also advertised over the web site) maintaining that the rate was already discounted. I had to insist in order to pay the (only) due amount.
Other than that really disappointing experience, I have to say that the hotel is nice (even if on the web site it appears nicer and especially more spacious than it is) and clean. Conveniently located in a nice small street close to Blue Mosque and St. Sophia. Breakfast was reasonable, even if it is served in the basement (however, the room is clean and well furnished). No room to store the baggage after check-out: I had to leave it in the hall. It seems that they have some problems with sewers (smell in bathrooms) so that rooms at ground floor are not recommended.
comfort
from ceyopiI had some bad images about this country and this big city.
Thanks to the stuff of best western hotel in Istanbul,
the image was changed.
The hotel is really comfortable and especially
the stuff are extremly nice and kind.
I can strongly recommend to everyone to stay
at this hotel sincerely and frankly.
Some nice rooms, but noisy
from travellingfool771) Some rooms were very nice. Clean bathroom, planty of hot water, nice bedding. I saw two different ones and found the differences between the rooms to be very large. Eclectic is what I would say.
2) The management has a different standard of what constitutes "noise" than I think most guests would do. Noisy is of course relative, but the noisiness I experienced there was unbelievable. Management was not sympathetic.
3) As of January 2007 there is a construction site directly next to the hotel.
4) Some rooms have a beautiful view of the Hagia Sophia. The breakfast room on the top floor has a georgeous view of the water!
5) The much touted breakfast buffet is not really all that good. Coffee was awful and the bread and breakfast items were not very fresh or very good. The juice was not real juice.
Bottom line - I would not stay here again. But if you are on a budget and want to be in the Sultanahmet part of town within walking distance of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, this is a okay choice.
s going on with the reviews here?
from NinananaGreat value hotel in nice location
from brucannThe room itself was adequate, no mini-safe though saftery boxes availalable at reception for a fee. The only downside of the sea view (4th floor) is that the restaurant is above and an early night might be tough due to constant footstep noise. Checkout was surprise-free and provided by the owner, 10% discount for Euro cash made the stay even better value. We used the EUR20 transfer to the airport in the hotel's new car, again smiling and reliable service. While this is not the fanciest hotel in town, value for money is great and the location (between Blue Mosque and seafront) is excellent -lots of food/shopping options all around.
Loved the Acropol!
from UmNasriTop Local Tips for Istanbul
so we arrived in the snow.... Winter is a good time to visit historic sites - no lines, time to really take in the the beauty of the mosques, churches etc. No waiting in restaurants ( the ones that are open). Downside? Those outdoor cafes sure look inviting - and a trip up the Bosporus should be wonderful in nice weather...looks like the streets would be noisier then too - but hey - this is a city of 30 million - you expected serenity?
beware taxi con Let hotel book taxi for you , good fare rates.watch out for taxis that you use when out and about, ask price first and try to have correct money for fare,we got caught out once ,we handed over a 20ytl note and it was swapped for a 1ytl note very quickly without us noticing and handed back to uswith the driver saying we had not given him the right amount of money for the fare.write down taxi number when you get into taxi, so if you do have any complaints you can identify the vehicle.
Tranportation Take a Taxi... shuttles will rip you off!!
