It was awful. Don't go. Worst hotel I've ever been to. Small, not enough rooms, terrible food, quiet, out of the way. First hotel I'll ever go back to, again and again, but only to check if it gets any better.
It gets better & better

Our first visit to the Sultan Palas Hotel in Dalyan was in 2004 & we have recently returned from our third visit. This dedicated family business continues to amaze us - just the right balance between natural charm & wonderful innovative improvements. Since our last visit to the hotel, there have been new bathrooms installed throughout, a new outdoor restaurant built, a new hotel boat plus we travelled in style to & from the river in a brand new Minibus - all of these things have just added to the comfort & enjoyment of our visit & experience to this very special hotel with its wonderful staff & surroundings. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.
Peace & Tranquility - it's here!

Our search for a small family run Hotel in Dalyan revealed a hidden gem. The Sultan Palas Hotel was recommended to us by friends of friends you know how it is - and we discovered that several guests at the Hotel had stayed there before.
When we were told of the past history and sympathetic improvements it all added to the feeling that we were part of an extended family at a private house party.
Our expectations were exceeded the photographs on the website don't do justice to this idyllic hideaway and the 20 minute trip cruising along the beautiful stretch of river to Dalyan on the Hotel boat just initiated the relaxing start to our holiday.
We were cautiously dubious about booking a hotel on the opposite side of the river to Dalyan but this was part of its charm and tranquillity.
Everything went smoothly. Nothing was left to chance - from ease of booking in the UK to being met on our arrival at Dalman Airport then being whisked off to the Hotel by the energetic all-rounder Jelal who takes charge of the leisurely boat service and the plush minibus transporting guests back and forth from the riverside right to the Hotel door.
Nothing was too much trouble for the dedicated and friendly staff who welcomed all guests like old friends.
Our room was spotless, the pool and gardens delightful and the food, hospitality and personal touches way beyond our expectations for a small hotel of this nature.
We couldn't fault it. It was fantastic value for money and I'd recommend you have the Half Board option!
We've returned home to the bleak British summer with batteries recharged and though we make it a rule not to revisit the same hotel, Dalyan and especially the Sultan Palas is a now a special place for us and we will definitely return.
We just hope that it doesn't change.

Whilst the hotel is in a lovely location and the staff are friendly and helpful, it leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel bus is a death trap and would not be allowed to carry building materials on site in the UK. It was filthy and falling to bits, as it did on one occasion. The boat used to ferry guests to and from Dalyan is as bad if not worse. The floor boards are in pieces and some of the timbers are rotten. It was an embarassment to be seen in. The food was just about acceptable and monotonous. Ourselves and other guests came to the conclusion that the hotel was being run on a shoestring. We will not be returning and would not recommend this hotel.

We found the perfect hideaway for rest, relaxation and recuperation with opportunities to walk and cycle past family farmland along deserted roads and tracks shared with the occasional bleating goat herd or cow wandering home and with the fascinating historical site nearby, all with the delights of Dalyan close by.
