We have just been fortunate enough to have spent the last week of August 08 at the Hotel Metin, Dalyan. As part of a family party comprising six adults in mid 40`s and two young teenagers we stayed in a combination of rooms and an apartment. All rooms had efficient 'life saving' air conditioning, were basic but adequately funished and were cleaned daily to a high standard.
Without exception the staff were always very courteous, helpful and polite, it seemed nothing was too much effort.
Taking breakfast each morning on the lovely roof terrace providing breathtaking views of the mountains proved a wonderfull start to each day. Luckily our party had no special requirement or dissabilities, and I just feel that if that were not so, they would have offered every assistance to make life comfortable.
We were fortunate enough to hire the hotel boat for half a day for an extremely reasonable fee, lt began at 6.30am being taken to watch and feed the Turtles in the lake, back to the hotel for a brief breakfast, then we motored off to the large island directly opposite the beautiful sandy beach, for some fishing and snorkelling, an hour two later we motored back into the reed beds for some crab fishing where our party caught about 25 good sized specimens, that Ramasin our skipper promptly cleaned, and cooked in a pot on board for a simple light lunch, they were divine!
All this was unplanned and spontaneous but could not have happened without the helpful and obliging staff.
My sister found the hotel Metin by chance via google not a travel agent or tour operator and we can only thank her for it.
The very small resort offers many many nice restaurants all trying hard to court your business with a smile and good value food. The area boasts lovely walks and scenery, relaxing waterways and the usuall array of gift and souvenir shops, again with very very friendly staff.
Walking the streets during the evenings as tourists do, felt very relaxed, and without exception our female element said they felt very much at ease, which was comforting.
Hotel transfers were punctual, comfortable and efficient and only took about 30 minutes.
Having the good fortune to have visited many many resorts and countries over the years by land and sea, Dalyan, thanks to Helenka and her team, the Hotel Metin ranks in my top five places to visit for a fair priced, friendly hotel in a location offering so much.
We will return!
