| Unique experience |
| We have vacationed in many different countries around the world but I think Cappadocia is one of the most amazing places that we\'ve ever seen. We spent 10 days at the Gamirasu Cave Hotel in 2001 and we still remember the place with great fondness. The hosts -- Ibrahim, Suleyman, and the entire staff -- were incredibly gracious, friendly and generous with their time and knowledge of the region. There were so many highlights on our trip; hiking in the wonderful Rose Valley, and other canyons in the vicinity; visiting the nearby village of Mustaphapasha during a wine festival; spending hours exploring an underground city; and of course, soaking in the wonderful ancient Byzantine ruins and cave churches scattered around the vicinity. The Gamirasu Cave Hotel itself was marvellous -- 4 levels of rooms with terraces and a lovely garden in the middle like an oasis of green in the high desert. Even when the hotel was full, the layout created plenty of privacy for the guests. The staff plied us with amazing food -- don\'t miss the chicken dishes, the kebabs, borek and of course the excellent local red wine -- wonderful down-home Turkish cuisine made with the freshest ingredients and prepared with love and care. On a personal level I cannot say enough good things about Ibragim and Suleyman. They have realized a lovely vision of hospitality and bring a rare warmth and generosity of spirit to their enterprise. There is nothing quite like the Gamirasu Cave Hotel -- you will have an unforgettable time there. Anybody considering going to Turkey should put this place on their itinerary. It is our sincere wish to come back and visit! |
