The hotel was the excellent setting for a fabulous holiday. A fantastic place to relax and enjoy yourself. The staff were fantastic, the food was fine, there was something to eat every day and quite a few times the food was excellent. The room fitted its purpose, the pool was fantastic and the hotel itself was very good. I would definitely reccommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a good laugh, relax and get to the end of their holiday wishing that they did not want to go home as they were having such a good time. I think that all the bad feedback must be from people who fail to have an open mind and try something new!

I do not know what is wrong with all of these people who have given this a bad rating...you get what you pay for and I thought this hotel was overall excellent value for money.

The view are spectacular and the staff are amazing, I have never met a better bunch of people working abroad before. All I have thought about since coming home two days ago is moving over their to work with them all as I miss them all so much.

Hotel is clean, good variety of foods each day, drinks always cold and great service. Some pool activities on some days and entertainment at night along with a disco from about 12 till 2. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and I am definitely going back next year (which is something I have never done before is go to the same place/hotel twice.

If you are afetr a partying holiday then I would reccomend Bodrum or Marmaris but if it is just a cheap getaway then the Crystal hotel has evrything you need.

After reading the reviews we were very dubious about going, but we actually had a great time. There were so many people moaning about the hotel, but you cannot expect what would be classed as 5* in England to translate to 5* in Turkey. We went expecting a 3* hotel, and we were not disappointed. There was really nothing to complain about, the food was fine, most definitely edible, and there was always something new and different to try. We went expecting turkish food, not english, and were therefore not disappointed with what we found. Every day burger and chips were served by the poolside for those people who were just too scared to try anything, although there was always something on offer that I recognized.

The staff were pleasant, and the bar staff spoke excellent english. Some people were hospitalised while we were there, but they also admitted to having drunk nothing but alcohol and laying in the sun for the first three days... common sense tells you that their illness was brought on by their own actions. A few people also claimed to have food poisoning, but if that was the case then everybody who ate the food would have suffered the same fate, and we were fine the whole holiday. We went prepared, we didn't drink water from the taps or have ice, and we stayed healthy and hydrated. The alcohol was also not watered down, and the staff were generous with portions ;o)

I can't understand why so many people complained about this holiday, from the brochure and advertisements it looks like a family/young people based hotel and that is exactly what it was. During peak times I am sure that there would be more entertainment (which there still was every night) but I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday. The only downside to the hotel is its position, but you can arrange day trips and easily go out, it isn't like you are trapped in the hotel. For the price we paid it couldn't have been any better.

With our friends we recently booked a holiday to Turkey to stay at the 4* Crystal Hotel Bodrum, two days before travelling we were informed that our hotel was due to close and we would be located at the Golden Age hotel. As we had already booked transfers from the airport to the Crystal this had to be changed.
On arrival at the Golden Age we were informed that there was no rooms for us and we should be at the Crystal for the first week and the second week at the Golden Age. After some discussion we agreed to go, when we asked about transport we were told they had no transport and we would have to pay for a taxi (£10.00).
At the Crystal we were quickly booked in and shown to our rooms which were adequate with a sea view and balcony, clean, comfortable and next to each other as requested. Food left a lot to be desired very little choice and repetitive. The first few days were reasonable pleasant, soon tables started to be removed from the dining area, loungers disappeared from the pool area and there were rumours of people being hospitalised with food poisoning. A note was stuck to our door saying we would be moved on Sunday and to be in reception by 11AM. On late afternoon Friday a second note appeared telling us to be ready in one hour with our cases in reception to be transferred to the Golden Age. This is not what we expected from a 4* holiday and found it very stressful and annoying.
On arrival at the Golden Age we were treated with some indifference the staff were confused and guests were complaining that rooms allocated were not suitable. We were presented with our keys and a bellboy showed us the way to our rooms, down three levels, across the dining area down another level, across the garden away from the main hotel to our room. A block of portacabins! On entering the room one was aware of a nasty smell (sewerage?) the curtains broken and walking across the floor it felt like a trampoline with every thing shaking (is this your idea of 4*). Back to reception to speak to the manager unfortunately he was not available but would see us later, when we were able to see him all he could say was there were no other rooms available and if we were not happy we should go to another hotel. He did eventually say if we came back at 12 noon the next day he would fiend us different rooms.
12 noon the next day at reception keys were produced and once again a bellboy lead the way to our rooms, down three levels, across the dining area, down another level and tucked under the stairs were our rooms. No outlook just a stone wall no sun at any time of day. Inside the rooms were damp with mould on the walls we had to pull the bed away from damp wall, no hot water, no room cleaning, towels were changed daily, bed linen one small cotton blanket for a very large king-size bed.
Food was edible and plentiful, toasted sandwich machine failed on the second day and didn't appear again, toaster jammed and burnt the bread.
At the pool area loud music was played most of the day until late night
As you can see from the above this was a most unsatisfactory situation regarding hygiene and extra expense to ourselves. What should have been a relaxing holiday turned out to be a most unpleasant experience.DONT GO

We booked to go to the Crystal Hotel under recomendation from the Travel Agent stating this was a 4* hotel which had been upgraded to a 5* Two days before going to this Hotel we had a telephone call from the Agent to say our accomodation had been changed and we were going to the Golden Age hotel Sister hotel to the Crystal hotel. When we arrived at the goldenage hotel we were told you are oming here next monday not now how do we get there we asked you will have o get a Taxi said the Manager we arrived at the hotel and were taken to the rooms which over looked the pool a bit outdated certainly not 4 or 5* during the middle of the week the food got worse hardly any choice at all things like Tables chairs Drinks machines were taken away. The Beach area was just like a Tip. then we had a note stuck to our Door telling us we would be moving to the Golden Age Hotel onthe Sunday, on the Saturday we had a urther note stuck to our doors telling us to pack our suitcase in a hour a be in reception they will Transport us to the Golden Age HotelWhen we arrived there we were shown to our rooms to our horror it was a portacabin as we entered inside there was a awful smell just like sewerage complained to the Manager who said he could spray it,we said this was not got enough and asked to be moved we were told there were no rooms vacant but if we came in the morning he would see what he could do which we did, shown to another room which by this time we had just about had enough the room was right down on te ground floor rooms was filthy our Beds werent made for the whole week They ran out of Brandy at 10pm Our friends in the next room but one there room was so damp and mouldy it was terrible Absolutely the worst holiday ever

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in they did not cater for the family namely children the food (what there was) was disgusting like slops then they run out off items, there was no entertainment off any sort & the facilities were not save to use due to lack off repair then they finally closed the hotel & moved everyone, I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE.

We were told this was a 5 star hotel by Holiday Experts (Experts don't make me laugh!!) I would never rate this a 5 star a 2 star and that's been kind. This was supposed to be our honeymoon romantic, relaxing!!! We had asked the company we booked with and phoned the hotel the day before we arrived to ensure we had a double bed obviously as it was our honeymoon, they told us yes no problem. When we got there we got 3 single beds we told the guy that we'd asked for double bed it's our honeymoon he pointed at the beds for us to push them together we went to complain but nobody seems to understand english when you want to complain. So 3 single beds pushed together it was for the duration of the stay. No clean towels, no clean sheets, flick of a mop everyday we think!!! Entertainment if you like the birdie song, music man and bingo everynight then this is the place for you!!!!! Location middle of nowhere to expensive to go to the decent villages everynight in Taxi seeing as we had to eat out as often as possible in these villages! Smell was disgusting all day everyday. Felt depressed everytime we came back from a lovely day out to this hell hole. I sure we would have had a better time at swansea prison. Staff were rude and not very helpful. They could have totally ruined our honeymoon but thankfully me and my husband decided we'd make the best of a really bad siutation get on with it and get the hell out of the resort everyday and night possible.

My boyfriend and I booked this holiday through onthebeach.com. As we were looking for a cheap holiday. It was advertised as a 4* hotel and was all-inclusive. For the price we paid, we can't complain to be honest. We have both been on cheap holidays before and stayed in 2 and 3*s and I believe the crystal is more than a 3*. The location is pretty poor. It is definitely in the middle of nowhere, which isn't a problem in the day, as the dolmus (bus) is very cheap. Yet at night, the hotel felt like a prison as taxis could be a bit expensive. The crystal is about 25mins away from Yalikavak or Turgetres which great for evenings out. But even Gumusluk is 10mins on the bus not within walking distance. The hotel has its own club, which was fun a couple of nights, but after a while the club and the hotels food get you down. The breakfast was ok swapping between fried eggs and pancakes, various cereals and pastries. But evening meals, you got the feeling the food was left over from lunch, and it was the same every night. Reminded us of school dinners. But at the end of the day you get what you pay for. The drinks were all inc and drinkable. We and various people we met in the hotel got very drunk on them. So they def weren't watered down. Our room didn't have a balcony, but it had air con, TV was clean and had fresh towels every day. The staff were friendly but I do agree there was a very funny smell around the hotel somedays? Maybe sewage?

Had 2 week holiday here, what an absolute nightmare! Firstly, hotel is in middle of nowhere no shops or anything near, so naturally hotel prices are total rip off for food, etc. The restaurant food is terrible, had flies actually visible on the food, do not eat or drink here whatever you do. The stench outside is ferocious , complained to staff member that spoke english, he pointed to sewers and said it was coming from there nearby, when I kept complaing about it, he got annoyed stuck a wooden stick into the sewer then pulled it out with turd stuck to the end of it then proceeded to chase me with it, I managed to get away from him. I complained inside to staff they tried to assure me he does fly of the handle at times but would never have actually hit me with the stick -he probably just intended to rub the turd from it on my clothes is what they said! Hotel is 1 or 2 star really overall, much of it in need of renovation and repair. Why reps are still sending people here is a mystery? It is a terrible place, avoid like the plague seriously.

Where do I start...Firstly this Hotel should have never been rated a 4 star its only worth a 1 atleast! I too tried to put the bad comments to the back of my mind and try and not let it affect my holiday but didn't need to as had a BAD experience of my own! Please DO NOT eat or drink anything from this hotel!! The food is left uncovered for over 3 hours with flies crawling all over it, its not even in a refridgerator! The drinks ARE most definitly watered down with TURKISH water and alcohol is boiled off (i know this as a staff member told me). The food/drink was SO bad that both my partner and i caught Acute Gastroenteritis "FOOD POISIONING" which included me being voliently sick by the swimming pool, stomach cramps and diarrhea and my partner also collapsed in the pool toilets because of this we had to recieve treatment from the Medical Centre in Gumbert which included 3 drips with fluids and anto-biotics, blood and stool samples and an ultra sound of intestines!!!!! It totally ruined our holiday, we spoke to a number of other people stayin with this Hotel and they had exactly the same thing!.
The reception staff are rude and abrupt, the animation staff constantly bug you throughout the day to join in with games over and over again even when your eating and trying to relax, the Reps are useless i.e. sending us on a ferry trip to Kos without informing us we need out passports costing us £45 to get back to our hotel and arrange to go another day.
If after reading all of these reviews and ur still mad enough to stay here bring a peg for your nose as the absolute stentch of sewers makes u sick when your eating, bring money to eat out we reccommend "Amphora" by the beach absolute lovely food cooked fresh and the staff are SO warm and friendly, always buy the bottled water dont drink anything from the Hotel and bring Immodium as if you dont follow these rules ul need it!!! Oh yeah the rooms are crap also our window was broken and came away from the frame on a number of occasions, it was dark and grimey.....GOD where do i stop!! Hope this helps
