Good, bad and ugly

Firstly, the hotel is most definitely NOT a 5 star, or anywhere near it! In the UK this would struggle to reach a 3 star. The facilities are there, but generally very tired and in desperate need of a complete revamp. For example, the Turkish bath and sauna (which we took the 2 hour treatment at £25 each) was fine but the sauna section just looked like it needed a good clean up and refurb. The turkish bath, massage and facial were excellent and left us feeling really refreshed. The massage table were in a kind of cabanna on one of the several balconies and had people wandering past which didn't exactly help the pampering experience.
The hotel is built on the side of a steep hill and, although there is a lift, it really isn't suitable for anyone elderly, infirm or needing to bump prams or biggies up and down.
The food was generally good. The variety was helped by an extensive salad bar, which offered a really good choice. The 'main' section usually had meat in a sauce of some kind, or chips and and veggie option. Every other evening there was an outdoor grill which offered different things on different nights such as grilled fish or steak etc. The drinks selection was fine and gave a good choice of soft or alcoholic drinks. I've read reviews saying there was a fly problem there, we didn't really experience that too much but there were a lot of wasps, although they were usually more interested in the sugar bowl!
Breakfast was not the best meal of the day as there was no fresh orange juice, the milk for the cereal (which offered most cereals to be fair) was warm and there was no toast to be had!
The rooms were very jaded and the bathrooms were, frankly, in need of a damn good clean!! there was mould in the shower, behind the sink, by the toilet, in the grout and so on..! It was quite disgusting. The rooms were not very big and the beds only seemed to have a bottom sheet on but no top one so you were left with a scratchy blanket on top!!!
The hotel has 2 pools, one is at the upper level and has a small terrace next to it. it gives a lovely view over the bay with the island and seems to be a constant photo opportunity too! The pool gives a nice an d quiet place to relax and soak up the rays with the option of a nice dip to cool off in between.
This leads on to the negative part of this review... The lower pool is larger and next to the stage and dance area (open area) where the 'animation' team play their trade. Unfortunately, this team was made up of about 5 17 year olds who didn't have the slightest clue how to entertain or provide any form of decent enjoyment for the vast majority of the guest and their families. We made the mistake of going to the lower pool on the first day and were rewarded with an afternoon of blasting 'Gangsta' Rap which was so loud that I had to shout to my partner who was lying next to me on the loungers. There were several families around and the constant noise was hardly family entertainment. Bad enough in the day but the music was so loud in our room that we couldn't sleep and went on until midnight (a big problem if you've got little ones) in fact the music was so loud that the only way to describe it is to imagine you are in a room with the TV on loud and try to sleep!
In fairness, we complained the next morning and we were moved without problem to another room on th eother side of the hotel (the mould in the bathroom obviously came free as a feature of the rooms!).
The entertainment itself was....hilarious! The animation 'team' just didn't have a clue! They attempted to stage a fire eating night and ended up setting fire to each other all evening...priceless. Their idea of entertainment was to walk up and down the stage and fiddle with the speakers on the stage...then turn them up as loud as they could and look like a bunch of kids trying to act like adults.
Considering the hotel is completely away from any other hotels and in a residential area there is very little to choose from. If you go into Yaklivak (the nearest town) the bus service stops running back to the hotel at 7pm and the taxi will cost you £10 to get back.
In conclusion, the hotel is adequate if you want somewhere to fly and flop with limited entertainment and reasonable food and drink. But it isn't cheap and the area will cost about the same to eat and drink in as the UK so dont expect a super cheap holiday here.
One final word of advice, refreshments at the airport on your return flight are absolutely extortionate! A can of coke will cost you £5! And to have a packet of crisps, a can of drink and a snickers bar will cost you £11. So for goodness sake buy your provisions before you get there.

It's been nearly a month since I returned from my holiday at the Club Crytsal Hotel and I absolutelty miss it. The staff were very friendly and the location was beautiful overlooking clear blue sea. However its not ideal for the elderly as its located on a hill, including lots of steps. The one major problem was the food, flies everywhere and sausage was served with nearly every meal. But apart from that it had some really positive aspects about it such as the excursions. Overall it was a good holiday, with a few downfalls I wouldn't say its a 5 star holiday, more like a 3. But i still enjoyed it. Be aware though i would not recomment a turkish bath, the bath was filthy and the manager of the Hamim is a pervert. But yea a great holiday lol.
Never Again!

This is quite possibly the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at and in no way whatsoever does it deserve its' 5* rating more like a 2*. The rooms were basic to say the least, the pool looked great till all the kids got ear infections from it, the food was quite poor with the hot and cold food all being the same temperature...lukewarm and covered in flies. The entertainment was diabolical and at times not existent and the airconditioning left us with chest infections with some of our friends needing antibiotics. Some of the staff were quite helpful however this was the exception rather than the rule. The majority of the staff are men and to say the least they were rude and in some instances were even agressive towards my 13 year old daughter, who they thought it was appropriate to grab when it suited them. The management do not care about the problems, all they care about is the money. I will never stay at this hotel again.

A misunderstanding

This hotel was said to us as a 5* . ıt was nothıng more than a 2*. The hotel was dırty, no aır condıtıonıng ın the rooms or anywhere in the hotel. To get to the pool, you had to walk up and down alot of steps. There is a lift, but it had broken. This was not good sınce we had ederly people wıth us. The food was not edible and the dınıng cloth was not even clean. The pools were clean, but the sun beds had no shade. The staff were not helpful and were quiet rude. We had only stayed here for one nıght and day and were forced to move because of the terrıble hotel. Thıs hotel ıs for a group of young people who want a cheap holiday, not for a relaxation holiday or a famıly holiday. It's not a great hotel at all.
Awful Holiday

We have just spent 2 awful weeks here; it is the worst hotel my family and I have ever been to; where do I begin.
We were taken to our rooms which had fungus on the bottom of the bed, blood on the bed cover, fungus growing around the mirror and plug socket, food left behind the bathroom door and plaster falling from the walls and no balcony just two little windows.
We immediately went to reception and one of the comments made were this is what you get for cheap standard rooms.' This holiday cost us £3k.
After much complaining, we were moved to another block which was better but there was still fungus in the bathroom. The air conditioning unit was leaking on to the bed and had a bad smell emitting from it.
The food was of a very poor standard with little variation over the two weeks and the temperature lukewarm. The table clothes were not changed on a daily basis as the stains were visible from the previous days sittings. The plastic cups were not washed properly as the smell from the previous drink was apparent.
During the afternoon when burger and chips were served one person was refused the food and was told by the chef that he was to fat and his assistant laughed, also another woman asked for three burgers and she was told that she was a greedy.
I was told that the chicken shish had finished, however other Turkish guests were given some after me.
The so called beach was a disgrace; rotten and filthy with the jetty unsafe.
Our toiletries had to be placed in the safe as the cleaners were using it.
The animation team, what can I say only two of them (Tuna & Toga) were very nice lads, they had to work 19 hours a day. The rest of them were appalling, the leader of them should be sacked as he often competed different nationalities against one another.
This was meant to be an all-inclusive holiday, however we spent more money eating out, either at the restaurant on the beach or going into town which was a little bit expensive.
The lift was broken for nearly seven days therefore we had to walk nearly one hundreds steps to get to the pool, which were uneven and spiralled.
The stench from the pool area was very overpowering that sometimes we stayed in our rooms.
One of the hand rails was made out of plastic toilet pipe with cement holding it in place.
During this period 18 guests had an ear infection due to the pool being so dirty, the last four days the baby pool had no water.
The doctor on site was charging £60 for ear drops when you could have gone into town (Yalikavak or Turgutreis) and bought the drops for £1, one person was taken to hospital and put on a drip where he was so ill.
My husband and I became ill during the last few days and after four days back home we are still ill, we are due to have blood tests carried out next week, we were not the only ones that were ill during our two week stay.
We heard a rumour that the owner of the hotel does not want any British guests next year, well if that is the case then they are welcome to it, it is the pits.

Recently returned from two weeks at Crystal Hotel. Room was comfortable and bathroom was spotless - both cleaned on a daily basis. Sheets and towels were also changed daily. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and varied with a wide range of free drinks available. Hotel location was quite remote but we were aware of that prior to booking (cannot understand how other people are not aware of this prior to arriving at the hotel) Bodrum is about 35 mins away from hotel and can be reached by regular bus service for around £2. Our son and his friend (both 17 years old) were also with us and they thoroughly enjoyed their time there - visiting the hotel disco on a nightly basis. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it. There are various levels in/around the hotel accessible by steps which may make it difficult for people with toddlers or elderly people with limited mobility. However, there is a lift covering 3 levels.

I have recently returned with my partner from the Club Crystal Hotel, Bodrum and only have praise for all the staff who were extremely helpful and only too happy to oblige. The food was extremely good for all meals, although perhaps not for the young, but chips were available at most meals. The salads at lunch and evening meals were fantastic, great choice of fresh vegetables and fruit. The pool was very good with plenty of sun-beds available and burger and chips were available in mid-afternoon as a snack. The room were adequate, clean with good air-con. The entertainment was lacking, but this was due to a complete change in the Entertainment staff, who tried their best to keep everyone happy with shows at night. The gymnastics round the pool-side were excellent and well supported as was the water-polo. The pool bar staff were amazing, and worked so hard to please. All in all, we had a great relaxing holiday, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for good value, lots of sun and friendly staff.

I think the Crystal Hotel was totally over exaggerated it was sold to us as a 5* hotel and it was no more than a 2 *. The hotel was very poorly kept the rooms were very basic like a prison cell. The overall location was beautiful but the hotel was not very practical. It is on a hill and unless you are very fit it is difficult to walk up to the hotel. The hotel had very little entertainment and not a huge variety of drinks, but offered watered down wine and beer. The pool could only accommodate about 10 people when there are about 50 sunbeds around the pool. The hotel beach was very stoney and not much of a beach nor maintained. We spent most of our time in Bodrum to get away from the unsociable resort of the crystal hotel. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to any of my friends and the majority of people at the hotel are Turkish, very little outside tourists but the few we met were very disappointed. This hotel is over rated for what it is.

Advertised as 5* star hotel, Hardly 2*.
Our room was smelly with small and dirty Bathroom. Sheets were changed twice a week ONLY if staff considered SHEETS need to be changed otherwise once a week.

The hotel is not suitable for kids or elderly as its located on top of a hill. The hotel beach is not sandy or clean and getting there and coming back is a challenge.

Food, they serve almost same thing everyday and most of the time is cold. Free drinks are Raki and beer which both are heavily watered down.
Best Holiday Ever!
