I went to this resort last May (08). I had never been to Turkey before and was a bit worried about my 18 year old daughter, there was no need, all male staff were very dignified.
Hotel was excellent, clean, tidy, modern. Entertainment during the day non stop, evening entertainment was laughable but they tried (bless). Older kids enjoyed the disco til late but watch the Russians, very stroppy after having a drink.
Water slides were the most fun as the lifeguard joined in the fun and made everyone laugh.
Everything was on site so no need to wonder from the hotel.
Weather excellent, food very good but you must book A la carte as soon as you get there as it was getting busier by the day (free). Beach lovely with free pedalo's. All towels free as usual.
Best bit about this hotel was the 24 hr bar, this means that you dont have to chuck it down your neck before it shuts which makes the whole holiday more enjoyable.

I am trying to book a different 5 star hotel for this May (09) but I am not having much luck at the moment.

Back again to the Perissia with much expectations as we had a fantastic holiday the year before minus room problems.
Once again this year we paid for a superior room with a sea view (Thomas cook sent email clarification on this) and got a ground floor room that was poor. Manage to recitify this however on the last day they wanted us to vacate our room 3 hours early for another customer and pay for another room that smelt musty and damp. The real disappointment this year was the entertainment team. They walked around like guests and had no real interest in what they were doing. The evening entertainment was embarrasing to watch until we compalined like 5 others that week and they outsourced the entertainment and was fantastic. The escape disco was a farce having to serve your own drinks and was not advertised as this was the staffs 2 hour smoke break. They would refuse to put on music, change tracks stating Septmeber is for old people and im having a cig and will do what I want when finished. The food was not as good this year either however the Chinese were excellent. I seemed to gain the impression that many reasons for lapse in quality were down to the staff not being as happy and working all hours. The beach restuarant must have had a problem with there dishwasher as on 3 occassions picking food off the plate to make the plate look clean to eat on. Last year not one person complained of stomach problems, but this year at least 10 couples we spoke to had irritations during there stay including myself and my partner. Paloma is overated as a 5 star and feel that it should be made clear it is a 4 star hotel with 5 star decals. It is time for the Paloma to have a rethink and for them to use the faclities they have onsite. Was going to book this next year but not so sure now.

We went as a family of eight. What a fantastic holiday. The food was A1. They even had porridge for breakfast. The hotel and gardens were fantastic, but found simba quite annoying especially when he wet our video camra by the pool. But apart from that, totally excellent - can't wait to go back. My wife and daughters cried because we were going home.

the hotel, and facilities are amazing!! Can't really be faulted. Although if I had to mention something (and I feel like I do) it would be - The Pools - they're freezing
The Food - lovely, but if you're a veggie it's a game of risk.

The hotel (and most of the resorts) are mainly built for catering for the German tourists. But most people also speak English once you've not responded to their German approaches.

Fantastic time. We have recently come back from 10 days all-inclusive stay at the Paloma Perissia Hotel. We had a wonderful time there. Fantastic time! This hotel is very well laid out, stylish and comfortable. The location is superb. We cannot find anything wrong with this hotel as they seem to have thought of everything.
Staff. The staff were very friendly, they are the most amazing, nicest people I have ever met, from the barmen to the cleaners, to the pool attendant, to the reception people - especially Nazmi. He knew all the answers, was very helpful, a true professional! The staff speak better German than English, but they always try to do their best anyway.
Animation. The animation team were all really nice. They work so hard, but they genuinely look like they enjoy their jobs, they really make your holiday complete! We will never forget their "Notre Dame De Paris". Esmeralda, Quasimodo, the priest - BRAVO! It is really worth seeing, don't miss /but take your seats 1 hour before the show!
Rooms. As for the room - it was clean, comfortable and a joy to stay in. It was cleaned each day and the room mini bar replaced with water and soft drinks every day.
Meals. The food was amazing, we ate in the a la carte restaurants and found the service better than anywhere we have stayed before. Fish restaurant seemed to be the best. The hotels “everyday” restaurant was also fantastic, there was a large variety of food each day and neither of us "suffered" any ill effects from eating there.
Beach. Clean towels are available every day for the pool and beach. Be careful – there are sharp stones in the sea!
Shopping. The prices are mostly in euros and the taxi drivers and shopkeepers have an exchange rate known only to them. Shopkeepers seem to be too pushy in Side. Manavgat ones looked better in this sense. Don't forget to bargain. 20%, 30%, even 50% discounts are possible!
Library. You needn't take any books with you - just visit Perissia's library, you will be surprised!
We didn't see anyone who didn't enjoy a stay here. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting all-inclusive in Turkey, because it was a wonderful relaxing holiday and we will go back!

we arrived at the paloma perissia hotel at four in the morning so we missed most of the first day,we went out on saturday and on sunday it was the animators day off so we were a bit bored from the lack of entertainment, but up came monday and it was excellent we joined in all the activities starting with boccia in the morning and my husband and daughter ending with football. The food was great there was a wide range of food each day and you woludn't see the same food until the next week.the location of the hotel was also very good because it was only a fifteen minute walk into the town with shops and a fourty minute walk to the side ruins. The waiters, bar staff and cleaning staff were all friendly but the best thing of the hotel was the animation team because they were really friendly always happy to be with and they all spoke good english. The shows were very professional done by the animation team with comedy shows, dancing shows which my daughter got asked to join in with the animation team and the big shows on a saturday for example 'aladdin'.Me and my family are going back next year and we hope that anna, willy, kata and max are still there!!!

We returned this week and can only say it was our best holiday. Nothing to complain about. Clean friendly and well worth the money. Food good although more suited to the German palette. However was still good. 90% of the guests were German but this caused no problems. Take the Ora tour (situated in Side.) to Manavgat and experience the offer of being dropped off near your hotel (100 yards out at sea) and being transferred by dinghy. What a laugh. A word of advice. Take euros not lira. The prices are all in euros and the taxi drivers and shop keepers have an exchange rate known only to them. If you have to fly with Sun Express TAKE YOUR OWN FOOD. Do not pay for in flight meals. The meat and veg is served cold and I still haven't worked out just what was on the plate. Just about everyone on the flight returned it uneaten. The worst airline food ever! BUT Perissia the greatest. We are going back next year. Hope Danny and Anna to of the animators are still there. For the royal treatment choose Perissia

We have just returned from the Perissia hotel today and would I would like to say ignore all of the negative feedback on this site because we found it to be FANTASTIC! The hotel was immaculate. The room was clean, comfortable and a joy to stay in and the rest of the hotel follows suit! The food was amazing, we ate in the al a carte restaurants and found the service better than anywhere we have stayed before. The hotels 'everyday' restaurant was also fantastic, there was a large variety of food each day and neither of us 'suffered' any ill effects from eating there! The drinks are national and international brands and if you sit outside the waiters bring a fresh drink to you as soon as you have finished your previous one!
The swimming pool is amazing, extremely clean, lovely and refreshing as the temperature hit 90' whilst we was there! The area around the pool was also amazing and there were planty of sunbeds to lounge about on all day if you wanted to!! The beach was also lovely and Sandy. If you walk down the beach, to the left you are able to walk all the way into Side town centre, takes about 45 minutes but well worth it!! The facilities within the hotel are excellent and the majority of things you do are included in the all inclusive! Now onto the staff!!! Oh My Goodness, the staff here are the most amazing, nicest people i have ever met, from the barmen, to the cleaners, to the pool attendant, to the reception people and of course the entertainment staff, which is another story all together!!! All of the staff are able to speak English and really make the effort to speak to you, and it really feels like they want to get to know you, they even learn your name and speak to you personaly, they really do make you feel special!
The Entertainment team are just totally amazing, they work so hard (as do the rest of the staff in the hotel), they really make your holiday complete, they take time out to speak to you, in excellent English, they play with the children on the resort and they genuinly look like they enjoy their jobs, i really cannot say how amazing and nice this team is!!! This was the most amazing holiday ever i am definatly going back there!!!!!

Historical Traveller Reviews of Paloma Perissia Hotel Side

Very, Very Nice!!

from mrudd83
I went with my family for my dads 50th birthday and really liked the paolma perissia!

From walking into the fully air-con'd reception area you know you've picked a good hotel. The staff were friendly enough although their english can be poor.

In short, the room was lovely, my brother (19)and I (23) shared a room. Fully air-conditioned, TV (mostly german/russian/turkish but who's there to watch TV??) and a nifty safe. had a small area outside our room which was good in the afternoon shade to relax looking out on the gardens.

My parents had paid extra for a sea-view room, problem is that the sun is blazing in the afternoon and the room can overheat very quickly! their air-con wasnt too good and it got a bit uncomfortable, plus they had 2 singles despite requesting a double bed. They had requested a french balcony but only had a sliding door, no seating room at all and were slightly disappionted having paid for somewhere to sit and enjoy the afternoon sun.

The entertainment was very good, shows are put on every night but sunday and are generally quite good. Plenty activities during the day should you feel energentic. Ranging from shooting to volleyball, water-polo to football and water areobics; the animation team are all very friendly and funny.

2 lovely pools with one being deeper are the perfect way to cool off. There is also an indoor one too near the gym. Didnt go in there but my brother said it was pretty nice. There is a turkish baths inside the gym area which is a great way to cleanse the suntan lotion (by cleanse I mean sweat it all out lol), and the scrub is meant to be lethal with sunburn so do it sooner rather than later, its meant to be very good.

Beautiful surroundings and literally right on the beach, there really isnt a need to leave the campus if you want to be lazy. The staff are generally better german speakers but most are very friendly and if you get the waiter who calls everyone "my friend", he is a really funny guy, you're going to be well looked after.

The food is fairly continental which can be a problem if you're fussy. My advice is go to the beach restaurant during the day, the food down there is very very good and failry decent choice. The main all you can eat one can be a bit hit and miss with things like veal or tongue on the menu. The chinese is worth a visit and the italian is very nice, try the beef steaks they're amazing!!

In total its a very nice place if the food can be a bit testing at times, there is mountains of cherries and melon every mealtime and its amazing! I would definately reccomend to stay there

Enjoyable stay at Paloma Perissia

from stefan_vranken
We have just returned from an enjoyable stay at Paloma Perissia. The hotel and all facilities are clean and up-do-date. Our hotel room (superior type) looked quite new and was very comfortable. The hotel is quite large but we rarely had the feeling that there were many guests around due to the hotel design and we had our holiday outside the holiday season

The food at the main restaurant was above average. People who do not like the Turkish cuisine will be restrained in their food choice at diner. We do like the Turkish cuisine which enabled us to assemble a varied dish every day. We observed that many guests had a very narrow taste and stuck to fish & chips. You could also book one of the four a la carte restaurants (Italian, Chinese, Turkish and a Mediterranean fish restaurant) which were good but we enjoyed them less than the main restaurant or the Sandy Beach restaurant (BBQ style).

Note that a majority of the guests are Germans and language skills of staff are very limited. As a consequence, staff has notions of German but barely speaks or understands English or French. Staff will address your query kindly and swiftly if you express your needs slowly and kindly. Arrogance and rude behavior will be returned with similar behavior of staff.

The hotel is at a 40 minute beach walk from Side. Side is very small and you can cover the antique areas (such as Apollo temple, museum and amphitheatre) and commercial area in half a day. Some people argue that shop sellers are aggressive but believe us when we say that these people are [--] compared to the shop sellers in Crete and in Egypt.

Several excursions to other antique areas, nature and commercial areas can be booked in the Hotel, via your travel agent or nearby the hotel.

PS: we verified the weather conditions prior to our holiday on the usual internet pages and they all forecasted bad weather. They all appeared wrong and we enjoyed sun nearly all the time with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Out of this world!

from sickgirl3
We booked this hotel through a travel agent for our wedding, as a family of 4 with 2 young children aged 1 and 3. Extended family booked separately and were all well catered for. In total 8 adults 2 children.

There was a slight mix up with the rooms on arrival but this was sorted out the next day with no problems, and we were upgraded anyway to the honeymoon suite from the night before our wedding day.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, the rooms are clean and well stocked with drinks clean towels and toiletries.

There's indoor play areas for the children and even a cinema - films shown in english and german.

The evening entertainment is well thought out, catering for all ages and if you don't like it there's plenty of other bars to go in - the piano bar is nice for adults.

The food on the buffet is faultless - something for everyone, even my 1 year old and my picky dad, especially considering the varying taste of us brits and the other dutch and german visitors (which I must say didn't bother us at all - most people were really friendly)

Whilst we were there the a la carte Turkish, Italian, Chinese and Seafood restaurants were all open. The Chinese and Italian aren't like they are here but the foods still nice and the service is very good. The Turkish restaurant was exceptional and we visited it over and over again.

Despite our elder son only being 3 he was still invoved in the mini club activities, although accompanied by an adult, which I though was really good as it's for 4 to 11 yr olds.

The hair salon was ok for the shaves but I wouldn't choose to go there - styles are quite dated and I had a lot of difficulty communicating what I wanted for my wedding hairstyle then ended up washing it and doing it myself - there are some great salons in side though, very cheap to have your hair coloured there if you're brave enough to do so in a different country!

The only faults were:

1 member of bar staff was rude to 1 of our party at the pool bar - but there's plenty of bars and the rest of the staff were really good.

I wouldn't bother with the late night snacks - they are warm ups from the buffet. But if you wait til 12 you can order room service anyway. Brilliant Sandwiches!

I'd reccommend this hotel to all ages - if you have children they'll be entertained, if you want a quite time you can have one. The surrounding area is beautiful, and the staff go out of their way to help you. Waiters in the Turkish restaurant decorated our table with flowers each time we ate there.

GERMANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! most hotel staff rude

from dougieandjen
unless you are ok with 0ne percent british to 98 percent germans mostly rude arrogant germans at that then do not go

went with my girlfriend and was ready to explode at bar staff on the first night for being arrogant "huffers"

beach is really full of sharp stones etc but nice apart from that though

we found one waiter by the name of OMEGA or something very close who was absolutely fantastic so much so that we tipped him very genourously!

hotel istself was stunning with the exception that the bedsheets were the only thing not to be changed daily,(first five days on the same sheets) the room was very clean and comfortable again except that the air conditioning had been turned off before arrival but when reported to reception this was remedied immediatly

the outside pools were fantastic although very cold but at the time of our visit i do not think it was to be unexpected

the food at the main restaurant left a lot to be desired! but you could book into the a la carte restaurants a no extra charge we sat for mediterranian, italian and chinese with all i found to be worth doing (would have eaten chinese or italian all week if possible !!!!!!

over all it was a lovely holiday which was stained by arrogant and rude bar staff and pushy ignorant germans but that may just be me being picky !

FAR FROM THE PERFECT HOLIDAY

Good Quality Hotel

from lesdee
I would give this hotel a 5 star rating especially as it is in turkey
the food was good, the room was good, paid extra for a sea view
well worth the extra.good walks into side, overall had an enjoyable time ,unfortunately i got gastric flu 2 days before going home and have now been home a week and have still got the flu side of it.but this is nothing to do with the hotel I think it was picked up on the plane

Wonderful sunsets

from white
I recently stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in Nov/Dec. It was my second visit - previously stayed in May. The hotel is beautifully appointed and very clean. The staff are helpful and friendly and the animators work tirelessly to ensure all guests are catered for. If you are looking for somewhere relaxing during the winter months this hotel offers fantastic value for money. English guests are in the minority as Side is a relatively new destination for this market, whilst the germans have been regular visitors for many years. My only slight criticism would be that the hotel's sound insulation is not that great (i.e. you can hear doors closing etc.) Perhaps they will improve this - then they will get my 5* approval - but overall you can't beat this hotel for value for money.

Good, but not 5 stars

from Thorpe123
We went to the Perissia in May / April 2006 for one week. The reception area of the Perissia as well as the communal areas were clearly of a high standard (a lot of heavy leather furniture, oriental carpets, antiques). We also loved the library and the luxurious seated area where you could watch the fish in a huge aquarium. However, we were disappointed when we entered our room as it was much smaller than expected. We had ordered a ground-floor room with a patio, and found that it was nicely and tastefully furnished. However, apart from a bed and a few cupboards we would have expected at least some armchairs or a sofa plus a small table where you can relax. Sitting on the bed at night to watch TV felt more like a cheap-ish set-up but definitely not like 5 stars! Cleanliness was good, although the room could have done with some proper airing before we moved in. It took several days for the musty smell to disappear. The food on the first night was a disaster. We went for the late-night snack and couldn't believe our eyes: After having to wait for about 15 minutes (there was no menu or anything you could have ordered) the waiter brought some small plates with food which looked like left-overs from the buffet: some lukewarm dried-out baked potatoes, small pieces of different types of meat with some lukewarm rice, yeuch. The remaining meals were - thank goodness! - better. There was always a large choice of food which was quite tasty. Yet, far from a 5-star-standard. A five star hotel should have at least some items on the buffet which are not just tasty but mouth-watering and exquisite. We had booked all-inclusive so most of the drinks were 'free'. We only noticed after a few days that the choice was actually bigger than it first seemed. There were neither menus on the table nor were there any wall-charts to tell you which drinks you could order. As a result, we stuck to the drinks (beer, ouzo...) they had standing around at the bar and which everyone else seemed to drink. Only when we saw some Germans with colourful cocktails we found out that there was indeed a much bigger choice, but you had to ask for the menu. The facilities outside the hotel were fine, we loved the big patio with wicker-chairs and tables where you could relax, enjoy the sunshine and watch the sun set over the sea. Also the bars at night were quite enjoyable, the other guests were pleasant people, no yobs! Altogether, it was an enjoyable stay. I suppose in holiday resorts the star rating of hotels has to be taken with a pinch of salt. At least as far as the food and the level of service are concerned you'll be better off expecting 3 stars when it's got 5 stars. I would still recommend the Perissia, provided that you get it for a good price.

A holiday NOT to be missed

from Juices
We have just returned form having the best 2 weeks ever.
4 Adults and 2 Children 7 & 11years.

Rooms : Arrived in the early hours and was greeted by a porter we had lots of luggage and was not allowed to carry a thing. The rooms were spacious and the beds very compfortable, the rooms had fridges which were replenished every day with branded Coca Cola and Orange Fanta a bottle of sparkling and still water. The children loved coming back to the rooms at the end of the day to see how the maids had left the towels.

The holiday just got better and better. The weather was Fab with the temp hitting 51degree's. The pool man would come round with flannels filled with ice every day at around 3pm to cool you down but with such fabulous pools and the choice of 3 what more could you ask for.

Resturaunts : Where do I begin the main buffet was fantastic something for everyone. Sandy Beach at lunchtime was food cooked on the Grill and Pizza made in front of you.

Animation Team : The Animation Team made the holiday for the whole family. Having a laugh and a joke every time we saw them.

This is the BEST hotel we have ever been to and we have already booked to return next year.

A first Class hotel where your every need is served. We have just returned from a 14 night all inclusive June 25th to July 9th.

The food was superb as was the service and all the al a carte resteraunts. Rooms were cleaned daily and sheets changed daily. The mini bar again was filled daily at no cost. The safe was also free.

The population was mainly German and Russian but that was no problem for us. We just got our towels out earlier!

All in all this is a perfect hotel.

There was one bad event which did ruin our holiday there and resulted in us being moved to another hotel. I am not allowed to say in this report but I will say If you are a woman please go accompanied to the spa centre. this did take the shine off, but we still give this hotel a 10+ score. Just because one person ruined it does not mean we will give it a negative. I will accept any questions on this hotel.
