My husband and I rerurned home from Turkey on Tuesday the 19th August, after staying in the Gold Safron Hotel,if it had been possible I would have come home on the next flight. The first room was dirty, curtains hanging off the rail, stains on carpet and it smelt, dark hall way filthy.I told the staff it was not acceptable they took us to another room just as bad but we couldn't breath for the smell of smoke.I caused a real fuss at the reception,we then got a family room on a newer block,It was acceptable with a nice balcony. We found most of the staff very rude on more than oone occasion, the russians very rude we were never made to feel welcome appart from the animation staff that always tried to join us in,they worked really hard. Also I must say there was one of the staff who had seen me very upset on arrival showed concern the whole holiday unfortunatly I didn't get his name. The food was terrible we had to eat out most nights there is only so much salad stuff you can eat, there was no meat dishes we could make a meal of.The drink was watered down they even had to shake the gin bottle before serving,we ended up drinking coke the whole holiday.Snacks early morning were pitta bread, snacks afternoon pitta bread, snacks on an evening well we only found them once they were left overs from meal time on a small plate covered in cling film no way would we chance it, we all ready had the runs.Sun beds we only got once in 10days and only because my husband got up early and took someone elses towel off and replaced with ours,we deceided to just go to the beach it was much better anyway. We paid for all inclusive in what we thought was a four star Hotel, and it cost us twice as much.Never again I like to be treated,as I treat others, this was the worst holiday I have ever had,and would like to worn others. It needs a face lift and new set of staff who care about their guests.

We spent a week here May 2009 and really enjoyed our time. OK there were not many other British guests, but that did not bother us. Some staff spoke good English and the food suited us, lots of fresh salads, variety each day with soups and main courses and several nights there was also BBQ served out by the Pool. Animation guys were great fun and kept everyone involved (from all nationalities as they spoke in several languages) and entertained each day with lots of activities throughout the day to join in. We felt it was a good family holiday, there were quite a few children but none that were a nuisance and they all enjoyed themselves. Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is central to shops, restaurants and a weekly market. The beach is about 5 mins walk away - with a long stretch of golden sand and lots of other hotels in this area also.

Great staff and poor food- but it's not 4 stars

I would have to disagree with previous reviewers as if the hotel food is all based for Eastern Europeans! I didn't like the food either and we were 8 girls-some of us ate only tomatoes and salad leaves for the whole week :) Food is something you can always complain about. But yes, I didn’t like it much either.. Breakfast was not worth of waking up, lunch was ok and dinner was quite nice- mash potatoes and chicken- wasn t too bad :) All the other types of meat is not good at all. Now the service in my opinion was very good. These people work sooo hard- every single day for 5-6 months and they get paid almost nothing but still they keep smiling the whole day! That's really something I admire. But I think this hotel is good for families. The animator guys have filled the whole day with different activities and games- the kids woun t get bored. Even we joined them :) But it's true if you are British and want to meet other Brits then this hotel is not the right place for you. Too many Russians are there and that is also why the stuff speaks better Russian than English. But you don't need to spend too much time in the hotel ;) The sea is close, bazaar= market is close (you have to try local fruits and berries- they r sooo tasty), lots of restaurants and bars are also very close. Go to Turkish bath (Haman) before sunbathing. They peel off your old skin, plus you get a nice massage. Going back to berries and fruits again... I went to the market and bought strawberries and blackberries- and I could tell that these r grown naturally. I couldn't even wait to wash them, so ate them straight from the bag- and nothing happened to me! But for your own sake you can wash them before eating. I guess I was lucky and I have a good health. The hotel room was ok too. My room was always cleaned but few girls complained that sometimes they didn’t get new towels or toilet paper. Now, about the 4 stars, I was told that in Turkey it works differently than normally in Europe. Apparently its not about how modern the hotel looks like. It's more about what they have- f.ex swimming pool, service, air con .... and of course they like to add one or 2 stars on their own :) Maybe it’s not entirely true. So I have to agree that this hotel wasn’t 4 stars, it was a nice 2 star hotel. But as long as the place is clean and has no "pets" running around in my bedroom and I have my friends and family around me its all fine with me. Anyways, I hope this was useful. Don't let all the small things ruin your holiday because in the end when you think about it- can you get a 4 star hotel in western Europe for that littlemoney??!! I don't think so, so just relax :)

THIS HOTEL IS DEFINATELY NOT 4* MAYBE 2+. CLEAN ENOUGH, BEDS & TOWELS CHANGED DAILY, VERY DATED 60'S DECOR, IN NEED OF A GOOD FACE-LIFT. FOOD RECYLED A LOT,AND ONLY THE SOUPS WERE HOT, OTHER FOOD WAS COLD. THE BAR HAD ONLY GIN, VODKA BEER & POOR WINE. THE STAFF THOUGH ARE EXCELLENT, THE MANAGER PUT RIGHT MY COMPLAINTS ( RICE & PASTA WITH EVERY MEAL AND THE SCRAMBLED EGGS HAD BEEN COOKED HOURS BEFORE). YOU CERTAINLY HAVE TO BE EAST GOING IF YOU BOOK THIS HOTEL.

TERRIBLE

As I work hard all year when I go on holiday I like to relax and have a chilled out holiday, When we got to turkey at 3.40am and we got our transfers, we were told that it would be half hr from airport, well 3 hrs later we arrive at our 4* hotel, we walked in and went to reception, and asked for our keys, we got told very rudely to wait, when we got taken to our room me and a female friend were shown into our room which had a double bed, so back to reception we went and got told tough, (this was at 7.30am at 1.30pm after raised voices we got a room which had 2 beds at last. that was just the start. This hotel is not a 4* it is dirty, food is awful we spent our spending money on eating out, the staff are rude and it looks like a grotty 70s hotel that needs a lick of paint, new furnishings and new staff. I would rate this a 1 star there are wild cats that are covered in flees roaming round the food areas and rooms. We had rain one night and we came into our room after being out for lunch our room was totally flooded and when helping them mop all the water out we got shouted and swore at. So all in all GOODLUCK if you have booked your holiday here it’s Terrible.

This holiday was sold to two families from the UK. The food they served was all based for Eastern Europeans, the entertainment was all based for Eastern Europeans. We had to eat out most nights at an additional expense as hotel is all inclusive. The children were constantly told off by staff just for having fun and threatended with the manager. Would not recommend to British people at all.

We have just returned from a week’s holiday and stayed in the Gold Safran where we found it was very good although they seemed to cater mostly for the eastern Europeans the hotel was very clean and positioned ideally for the shops and beach. The entertainment was good but only spoken in Russian polish and German, which as most of it was singing dancing and a magician, was not a problem. If you like to go on holiday with a view of meeting other people from different countries, like we do, then this is a great way of meeting them. If you like Britain abroad then it is not for you
