The hotel room was tiny (just enough room to lay down), the front desk attendant was rude and they double charged me for my room after I insisted that I had already paid. It took me over a month and multiple costly phone calls to get my money back, which by the way, was not the entire sum. Would I stay here again...NO!

The room was the largest closet I have ever slept in. Without Air Conditioning, it was mandatory to keep the windows open to keep some air moving; this also lets in all the wonderful street noises and exhaust fumes, but these die down by about 2:00 AM, so sleep well! The desk staff was rude, and insisted upon charging me for the room a second time despite the hotel insisting that I pre-pay for the room in advance! Never fear - they did refund the overpayment - in six weeks, with help from Visa. Stay away!

Sunday Night eating out If you planning to eat out in Zurich Sunday night , do not leave it too late as most of restaurants, stop serving after 11.00pm. Rest of week they are open to the early hours .

Use it! Get a Zurichcard, best value and lots of extras.

Zurich in general We stopped in Zurich twice on our trip. Had we not had accommodation and flights booked already we probably would have changed this. It appeared that Zurich was a little smelly (smoking inside everywhere you go: train stations, restaurants etc...) and not a lot to see. The lake was lovely Im sure but we had no desire to go out in the cold weather to wander the town for long. It was a convenient stop.You need CHF (we could not use euros anywhere). It's particularly handy for when you need to buy tram tickets. The restaurant at our second hotel was extremely expensive (as is the theme in Zurich). The meals were tiny and the bills were high. Just worth the caution.
