Although things looked fine at first and the location was convinient, I soon realized that the manager lied about the availability of WiFi although was previously confirmed via email. Even worse, I broke the chair in the room by mistake, it was quite shaky! Yet, I was talken to in a very rude way about it, and was made to pay CHF250 in compensation for such a cheap low quality chair!

I enjoy staying at the Basilea in Zurich every year as it gives me a needed rest before I travel on to Zermatt. I am grateful to the staff that allows me to get into my room around noon. I shower, take a long 4-5 hour nap, then go across and down the street for rachlette, stroll the old town, go to bed around 11:00, wake up refreshed, have a good breakfast, and then take an early Saturday morning train to Zermatt. Likewise on my return after a fortnight, I stay again one night before I leave. It is a nice 5 minute walk to the train and then on to the airport.
