We stayed at the Beausite Park Hotel for 7 nights and were very sad to leave. Some think that this area is just a great ski area (which it is), but we loved it there in June. In fact, we're returning for a 9-night stay in June, 2007. Wengen is on the rail line that can take you anywhere in the area, and it's at the base of the Mannlichen lift. The hiking trails and views is this area are spectacular. The hotel rooms are first class, the food is excellent, and the staff very friendly. One of the best stays we've had anywhere!

We have stayed in this hotel for 10 years and during this time the owners have changed. We have never been disappointed. Frau Leemaan always welcomes us personally and remembers our names. The food has always been excellent and the staff are kind and attentive. The hotel sits looking over the beautiful village and the views from the lovely swimming pool are spectacular. When we arrive it feels hard to believe we have been away for a year. Our children range in ages from 18 to 8 and they love the hotel and village as much, if not more, than us.My parents are now in their seventies and feel very at home in the Park. The bedrooms are beautifully kept with those at the front having small balconies looking towards the Eiger. I am sure there are cheaper options than the Park Beausite but if you want value for money this is the place to stay.

Top Local Tips for Wengen

Schilthorn This revolving restaurant in nearby Muerren is where 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' was filmed. Quite awkward to get to (train cablecar etc) but well worth it.

Walking this is both a ski and walkers paradise resort

Hiking from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg This is a wonderful hike, especially for anyone who wants a gentle incline. Takes about an hour and a half; take the tram to Mannlichen.
