Top Local Tips for Locarno

Not in Locarno, but right nearby in Ascona Grotto Baldoria, only one menue, but the food is cheap and absolutely delicious http://grottobaldoria.com/

Just a pretty walk.. Walk through the old town square and down to the lake front, fro there turn left and walk along the lake front. The view is beautiful and very romantic! If you walk for about 10 minutes you will come across many lovely restaurants facing onto the lake (which I liked a bit more than the ones in the old town as I really wanted to eat by the lake!). There are quite a few restaurants along here and the smells are amazing - we chose our place based on the amazing wiff of parmesan comming from the restauarant! All of them have beautiful outdoor eating areas and great food. The one we ate at served the most amazing spinach and riccotta canneloni and great tiramissu! Prices are excellent here too - our whole meal (with puddings and lots of wine) only came to about £25 and was divine! It's well worth the walk and heading back after dark along the lake under the old fashioned street lights is so romantic, I'd totally recommend it!
