I have been staying at the Bellevue Baren in Krattigen (just outside of Interlaken) for 6 years now, for both work and pleasure, and each time has been wonderful. Mrs. Mueller, her daughter, and their wonderful staff have become like family. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and all have a beautiful view of Lake Thun. Several of the rooms are "terrace" rooms, and if you have an opportunity to stay in one of these, I'd highly recommend them. There is a huge terrace with patio furniture, etc., where you can sit outside your room and enjoy the view, and listen to the cow bells from the cows grazing on the hill where the hotel sits. This hotel has a wonderful chef - I have never had a meal that was anything but fabulous. I always get the "half-board" rate, which includes breakfast and dinner, and I am never disappointed. The prices at the hotel, both for rooms and for food, are very reasonable, especially for the Interlaken region. If you are looking for an authentic Swiss experience, go here. I have been the only American there each time I've stayed. It's a bit out of the way, and therefore is not one bit touristy. If you need to speak to someone at the hotel, ask for Mrs. Mueller or her daughter - they are the only ones that really speak English. Oh, and lastly, the service is great. They take good care of every need you have, always with a smile. I had a sore throat once and asked for a cup of hot tea to take to my room - what I got instead was a whole carafe of hot tea, sliced lemon, honey and some miniature bottles of whiskey, and some advice to make myself a hot toddy (all no charge). Another time, I asked if they have laundry service, as I needed to wash some jeans. They said yes, took my jeans (3 pair), washed and ironed them, gave them back to me, and then refused to charge for the service. Also, calling the States is very cheap directly from your room - they do not add any hotel surcharges to the long distance rates. I can't say enough good about this place - it's beautiful, nicely located, authentic, good food, clean, friendly and reasonably priced. Try it!!
