We were disappointed. Probably because at the price we paid we expected great service, nice rooms, great spa. But everything was disappointing. The rooms were simple (not even any tissues), the spa was small and little variation, the people were definately not hospitable and forthcoming. So after two nights we went down the street and got 2 nights for less at the Regina. Bigger rooms, better spa, better breakfasts, much better hospitablity.

Top Local Tips for Grindelwald

Check bags through to the hotel! Have your travel agent arrange to have your bags checked all the way through to the hotel. You will receive bag tags in advance that you will need to fill out (w/ customs info also) and attach to your bags when you check into Swiss Air in NYC. When you arrive in Switzerland, you go straight to the train hop the train to Interlaken/Grindelwald. No fighting at baggage claim and dragging them around all the train stations. Someone else grabs your bags, puts them on the first train to Grindelwald. When you check in...give the front desk your baggage ticket and tell them to go get your bags at the train station and immediately go shopping. Your bags will be in your room by the time you return. And do it in reverse when you leave.......you will kiss your travel agent when you return. We did.

save aching arms have your bags sent from departure airport to hotel and return saves a lot of strugling with cases when having to change trains and platforms with only minutes to spare

SWISS PASS Buy a swiss rail pass if you want to get around, it was 130 pounds for 8 days and we were upgraded to 1st class, its a lot cheaper and also gets you free boat and bus trips included
