Stayed 3 nights at the Edelweiss, took the train from the Airport and it was no more than a 10 minute walk to the Hotel, which is set back from the main road on Place Du Navigation, which at the moment is getting new paving laid but this is no problem with noise etc. Check in was quick we had requested a twin with a high floor and was offered a twin room on the 1st floor or a double on the 5th, so we plumped for the 5th, glad we did it had a view of the top of Jet D'eau lit up at night - great. The lobby and sitting area are spot less and the staff very polite, kitted out in there traditional Swiss clothes. The room was again spotless, for a small hotel the bathroom was a good size, with plenty of towels and soap/shampoo etc. The room was decent size for Europe with 2 large wardrobes, and extra shelves on both sides of the bed, 2 easy chairs and a table along with a writing table, a TV with a selection of different European and English speaking stations, also a mini bar which the prices seemed very reasonable for a hotel, there was a safe in the cupboard. There was individual temperature control for the room, but we didn't use as the temp was always just right.
The breakfast which is included in the price is served in the hotels restaurant, which is built like the outside of a Swiss chalet, complete with Flughel horn, St Bernhards, red and white checky table cloths and pot plants. The food consisted of eggs you could boil, 3 or 4 different kinds of soft bread, rolls, danish pastries, 3 cereals and Muesli, dates and sultanas, milk, orange and apple juice, sliced cheese and meats, soft cheese, butter, 4 kinds of jam, yoghurts, water and fruit salad. Tea and coffee are served at your table everything else is help yourself. There are plenty of tables so I can't imagine you ever have to wait.
Overall I loved this Hotel it is a couple of minutes walk to the lake front and 20 mins leisurely walk to some great reaturants near the Cathedral in the Old Town.

Nice homely feel to hotel. Justfied 3 stars. Wondered about fire exit at the top but staff very friendly and restaurant had a great atmosphere, with truly local food. Not much of a view, but great location. Near lake Geveva (Lacman). Also staff have lots of local knowledge. Decent sized room with 6 odd english speaking channels on TV. Good clean shower. Prob best hotel in the area for the price. British airways had a good deal at the time as well.

After reading other reviews, My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in July and were not disappointed. The hotel staff were friendly & helpful, and while the lift was bijiou, the room was spacious (and decorated in pine), and the location was fantastic - just minutes from the Lake.
On our recommendation, friends stayed in the hotel for 7 days at the end of July and thought everthing was "wonderful"!
If you do stay, it is worth asking for a room at the top and at the back of the hotel, so that you look over the roof tops rather than the road.

JUST CELEBRATED OUR RUBY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AT THE EDELWEISS its areally nice hotel with a good location not far from the lake and you can get almost anywhere via tram trolley bus or ferry for just 7 francs a day. i had ordered flowers for our swiss decorated room and we had 40 lovely roses for our pleasure for the 4 days we were there .The staff were excellent and we had no problems with the language. Recomend a visit to the U.N. building remember to take your passport for entry.

A quaint, beautiful and comfortable hotel worthy of far more than it's three stars. The location is excellent, the staff extremely polite and knowledgeable and the restaurant is a fantastic experience. I whole-heartedly recommend it to anyone!

Smaller than the photos on their website

Our room was much smaller than the photos on their website, plus we had a pull out (sofa) bed whereas they had advertised 4 "real" beds. The location is a good walk away from the old city, if we were to go again, we would stay closer in to all the sights. Also, the evening entertainment (music from the Sound of Music, etc.) is covered up with Japanese tour groups - if you want to do it, book early. We saw enough just coming and going to dinner elsewhere, which was much cheaper.

Warmth and hospitality at a reasonable price

The Manotel Edelweiss surpassed our expectations. We arrived from our trans-Atlantic flight without luggage, and the desk clerk made numerous phone calls to the airline for us. Conveniently located, we walked everywhere. Immaculate, comfortable, albeit somewhat small rooms, but a great find in an expensive city. Fine breakfast.

Beautiful

I stayed here just before Christmas with my mum and our friend and it was lovely. It was so cosy + the whole hotel is very very typically Swiss - it is beautiful. Our rooms were spotless + the staff were so friendly - always smiling + saying hello. We went to the Swiss evening at the restaurant where they had yodellers on stage! Anyone wanting to see this is better off booking this well in advance as we only just managed to get in! The only thing I didn't like was that the restaurant didn't have a separate non smoking section but it wouldn't stop me staying at the hotel again. It is in a good location + only a pleasant 10 minute walk to the centre. I would definitely stay at this hotel again - strongly recommend it!

Top Local Tips for Geneva

Lausanne I highly recommend a day trip to Lausanne and Ouchy as there isn't much to do in Geneva

Avoid taxis wherever possible to save some cash Taxis are SO EXPENSIVE in Geneva it is almost criminal. Take the train from the airport into Geneva City (Cornavin station) for 3CHF(price at time of writing). Every train from the airport stops at Cornavin (it is the first stop) so get on the first train that comes in once you have your ticket. Once in Geneva, you can walk, take the bus or get a taxi to your hotel depending on where it is, but you will save some money on the trip from the airport.

Free bike hire There are several free bike hire areas where for a deposit, you can borrow a bike for up to 4 hours. Small fee of 1 CHF per hour thereafter. A great way to see the city.
