This hotel is as near to perfect as you could imagine. The location, the exterior, the lobby interior, the room interior, the staff, the breakfast.... all excellent. I even ordered some Room Service at 2,30am in the morning which was delivered quickly and courtesly at a reasonable price bearing in mind that it was the middle of the night ! As a seasoned traveller throughout the world I am pleased to be able to recommend this excellent Swissotel.

Top Local Tips for Basel

Münster, medieval City, Kunstmuseum and much more The Münster and the old city of course and if time allowes the Kunstmuseum with the emphasis of German and Swiss painters of 15th and 16th centuries.

Basler Munster Cathedral Attending and reporting on the conference did not leave much time for sightseeing for me, but if you only have time do do a few things in Basel, put this on the list. A beautiful cathedral, one could probably spend hours here, exploring every statue, stained glass window, carving, painting, balcony, stairwell, and the indoor-outdoor courtyard. Amazingly beautiful architecture and artwork, and unique- something you won't find in the U.S., that is for sure, which is perhaps why I found it so fascinating

Not like America - very refreshing! The nightlife around Basel was a pleasant surprise. Most stores were closed, so the people of the city were sitting around various places, such as on outdoor patios of restaurants and bars, the front steps of museums, just talking and visiting. It was an incredibly relaxing way to spend an evening, wandering the streets. It is truly a beautiful city, I could never get tired of walking around, simply looking at the buildings, the river, the plants and gardens, etc., etc., etc....
