Peaceful, delightful but somewhat quirky hotel

The Eden Roc's location in Ascona can't be bettered and although our very large room with large balcony with lovely lake views was charming it might not suit everyone as it's colour scheme was red and yellow with one or two pieces of unusual furniture. It was a haven of peace and tranquilty however and we slept very well.
It's true that the owners have done their best to make these 2 former hotels look less like 2 1970's buildings joined up by trying to imitate an Italian Palazzo. Get beyond that and it's inherent 95% German clientele,i e expect to be spoken to in German not Italian, a little smugness from management and you will find the Eden Roc a comfortable, sometimes enchanting place to stay.
