Historical Traveller Reviews of Nordic Sea Hotel
A fair experience only! Feb 2005
from A TripAdvisor MemberCheck in: Swift - Friendly
Rooms: Poor standard combined with poor planning. Be warned: HOTEL ROOMS WITH THE DOOR OPENING OUT ONTO THE CORRIDOR - IS A BIG WARNING SIGN ! Hence Room was very small, especially as the hotel purporting to be 4 Star - Poor quality beds, with paper thin mattresses.
Room Hygiene; Cleaning very poor (used cups not washed, floors uncleaned, room not tidied
Bathroom: Bath water too cool to bathe, insufficient water pressure for shower ... need i go on!)
Breakfast: Decent selection - though reminescent of feeding at the animal trough - food areas too small - considering the number of people using the hotel over the weekend.
Bar: Modern with smoking & non- smoking areas.
Overall Impression: Fancy wrapper, buts that's all. Inside not as good as one would expect considering the hotel rating & price. Would i stay again? NO. There is better quality accommadation & services for equal or less money.
Extremely disappointing !
from A TripAdvisor Member- no service at all at breakfast, you have to pick up your own plates, cups and find a clean table !
- no bell boy to bring up your lugages (we were with one kid and an infant and they offered no help)
- impossible to get a Baby sitter when we wanted to go out on a saturday night
- extremely short room service menu
- the sauna is not even in the hotel, you have to cross the street to the Nordic light hotel or walk through the parking !
- last, the door handle was broken and it took them three days to repair it
You do not expect this quality of service in a hotel of this standard.
One of the best
from cootes_paradiseRooms: Great. It was the best sleep I've had in ages. Great duvets and pillows. Very clean daily. Toiletries, towels, etc great. Wood floor so felt cleaner than the usual hotel carpeting. My view was of the inner courtyard which is fine.
Breakfast: Included in price. Great breakfast, varied, perfect faire for those who like breakfast. Fill up well and you won't be hungry until dinner.
Staff: Helpful and nice. For a "trendy" "boutique" hotel, I found the staff helpful and pleasant.
Design: cool aquatic design. Almost like being on a cruise ship. Great fish tank. Ice Bar in hotel is a must. Try the Aurora Borealis.
I travel alot for pleasure and found this one of the best hotels for it's price category.
Nice hotel
from lovethecoldThe lobby was bright and modern, the rooms were clean and comfy and the bathroom was lovely. Really nice smellies!!
The breakfast buffet was delicious and if you were staying for a few days I would recommend really filling up on it as eating out can be pricey.
The Arlanda Express leaves every 15 minutes and is literally a 2 minute walk away. That was very welcome after a 6 and a half hour train journey the day before!
The staff were very freindly and helpful.
One tip - in the minibar in the room there was a price list but on checking out we were told it was all free???!!! Worth checking if you do stay there!
All in all top marks.
Good and bad points.....
from Ian_GraceVery convenient for the Arlanda Express airport train which is right next door but the general area is rather ugly and mostly concrete and although it felt safe there are much more attractive areas to stay. On the plus side it didn't take long to walk to other areas.
The room was a decent size but smelt a little (possibly the result of it being a smokers room although the smell didn't seem like stale smoke). The view was of the train platform just a few yards away and was depressing. The room wasn't cleaned at all for the three nights we were there which was mildly irritating but not a major issue. Bathroom was of a decent size and clean.
Breakfast was very good-buffet style and although it was very crowded it was tasty and there was a wide choice for meat eaters and veggies.
The bar / communal areas are smart, attractive and modern. Drinks are expensive but that seemed to be the case generally in the city. Service was friendly and relaxed.
Rooms with no windows
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe Hotel had several above average features. Excellent Bed, great breakfast and cool Ice Bar. While I found the hotel to be OK, next time I am in town for business I plan to try one of the other hotels (Sheraton or Radisson SAS)
Very Nice!
from A TripAdvisor MemberWonderful Location
from A TripAdvisor MemberVery modern, clean and nice. We had their "medium" size room, which is a bit on the small side, but adequate. The included breakfast was quite good. If/when I retuen to Stockholm I WILL stay here again.
Good location, friendly staff and good value
from rannywClean, friendly and a good location
from A TripAdvisor MemberReception staff were excellent and helped us plan our sight seeing. We spent most of our time in the Old Town which is only 10 mins walk down the road. Breakfast was included as was very good. The ice bar is quite fun and a drink is included in the cover charge. Our room was a modern and good size and the bathroom was bigger than expected. Would definitely stay there again!
Top Local Tips for Stockholm
Bus tickets It took us a while to find out how to get tickets for the bus which stopped nearby, as they are not sold on the buses (!). Individual tickets and I believe the "strips" of 10 tickets can be bought from some shops i.e. Seven 11, of which there was one just along the road, where one could even pay by Visa card. Stockholm was smaller than we imagined (after London, Paris and even Amsterdam) and we were at our destination in 8 mins., so it was easy once we'd found out how.
Fjäderholmarna - A lovely island just 20-30 mins away Go to Fjäderholmarna an island in the Archipelago that is 20-30 mins away from the port and cost 95 SEK. Its a beautiful island with little cafes and craft shops.
