Horrible staff
I had high expectations for this place. Me and my wife were celebrating, but we left the hotel and cancelled our visit. This was after a dispute over me taking a photo inside the cadier bar. The issue could have been easily resolved if the personnel had informed me that cameras aren't allowed. I apologized and deleted the photo from my camera, but the waitor kept going on complaining about it and more or less tried to teach us how to behave in fine restaurants like this. Needless to say we just left. I live in Stockholm and know plenty of bars with good service, so I'm not likely to return. The manager was very understanding when I phoned in my complaint later on. This might have been a case of bad luck with a young snob feeling important for getting a job as bartender at Grand, but I don't feel like being patient with any place that don't screen out that kind of nonsense before I have to deal with it. Consistency
The Grand in Stockholm has been consistently perfect. From the minute I walk through the front door until I leave, its like a home away from home, although so much nicer than my home. The rooms are clean, neat and roomy. The personnel is very helpful and pleasant and the surroundings comfortable. Highly recommended!!!

Great but busy location
Arrived to a very busy overbooked hotel in the middle of the busy summer season. My room was not availble until 4pm. I had reserved a deluxe sea view room, the room was quite small and the furnishings looked a bit tired. As I single traveler hoping to enjoy a late afternoon (3pm) lunch in the restaurant I was shown to a table by the kitchen even though several window tables were available. My request for a window table was not graciously recieved but was honored due to my persistence, which was hard to understand since the restaurant was relatively empty at that time. On subsequent visits to the restaurant I recieved a much warmer welcome. Overall I believe I had the misfortune of arriving at this hotel when it was going through a perticularly bad period. The lobby was full of suitcase and could not begin to provide enough seating for those waint for rooms to be ready. Hopefully my next visit will be more pleasant and up to the standards one expects from a hotel of this stature.
