service fees in restaurants, and over charge for drinks We were in Barcelona for a week in March 2009. We 15-22. There is one restaurante charged us service of €1.50. It was at Restaurante Seimpreviva near Barceloneta, Passeig Joan de Borb 7. The service was bad, so as the food. We had lunch on Saturday. We had fried Calamari razor clam and salad for starter. The fried Calamari we received was warm but soggy, because the pieces of Calamari were cut too big, the moisture continue to come out and saturate the crispy coating. The razor clam was way overcooked; shrunk to chopstick size and very salty. Paella as main was good. Service was slow with 3 waiters running around more than a dozen tables. We were shocked to see the bill, not to mention there was €1.50 service for each person - we were not charged service fee in any other restaurants we ate, a small Jar of ice tea was €12 – for the same size jar of house wine at Qu Qu (Quasi Queviures) for €5 where we had dinner the day before.
Take the 2 day bus trip on 'Bus Turistic' One day was 21 euro per person but 2 days is 27 euro . It is a hop on hop off service and the buses are every 7 or 8 minutes . We used day 1 to go all around the city and then day 2 to go back to the places we found most interseting , This made the extra 6 euros for day 2 really worthwhile.
