My Wife and I have just returned from a week long holiday at The Sol Timor I can honestly say that the place and location are fantastic. The downside of our holiday was when my wife had her hanbag stolen from here side whilst we were relaxing on sun loungers beside the pool. We later discovered that this is quite a common occurence. This incident completely ruined our holiday because besides cash, credit cards and other items my wife also had her wedding and engagement rings in the bag because she had taken them off because her hands were swelling due to the heat. If I could of caught this ******* I would now be serving time in a Spanish jail. She is totally gutted and the experience ruined our holiday and it will stay with us both for the rest of our lives. I must also say that the hotel staff acted well towards us after the robbery and let us use their phone to cancell credit cards etc, they also changed the locks on our room immediately after the bag was stolen.

This hotel is a disgrace. The staff couldn't help you with anything and the photos provided are old. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody- not even my mother in law!!! The rooms are old, badly furnished, smelly, the TV only had CNN, the sofa was broken, the food was terrible. Terrible place.....

Absolutely awesome place, hotel basic but perfect views and great for those who just need a base in the heart of it all. I now feel homesick from this place

The Sol Timor was brilliant; the disco was really good too. The hotel was so close to the beach and the food was lovely I will be going back next year.

The sol timor is great for young people, the discos great to make friends. The sea is so close which is a bonus! And the marina is great to have dinner. I went on a boat from the marina and saw dolphins! Looking forward to next years holiday there.

phonebill sting

from al-and-norma
recently stayed at sol timor
while there the only way to phone home from the hotel room is by giving your credit card number
i havejust got my credit card statement and a 15 min call cost£35 . 67p
and a 5 min call cost £13 . 34
what a nasty surprise
the phone home shop around the corner is very reasonable

Excellent Location

We spent 2 weeks at the Sol Timor. It was a lovely place, not what we would normaly pick but tour operator changed our accommordation so we decided to stick with it and we were glad we did.

We had a studio which was clean and was a adequate size for the two of us. We were on the 8th floor and what a lovely view of the pool and beach with the mediterranean sea. Beds were changed every 4th day and towels were changed every other day (put used towels on bathroom floor so they know which ones to change it worked for us)

We had no trouble with noise maybe we were lucky there.

Pool area was cleaned daily sunbeds was 2 euro each.

There was activities daily for kids and adults. Supermarket was very handy and they were cheaper than the supermarkets outside.

Great location on the beach and by the beautiful marina which has shops, bars and restaurants.

Across the road you have English and Irish bars with karaoke and different acts and the ones we went in they closed the doors at midnight to keep the noice down. We never had a bad nights sleep.

We hired the fan ( great for cooling off ) and the safety deposit box which are in your room.

Hope we have put minds at rest Sol Timor is a lovely place with friendly staff and we would stay there again.

My son and I have just returned from a week at the Sol Timor apartments!
What a fantastic hotel and fantastic staff!
We will return...

loved the view

Just returned from the sol timor apartments after 1 weeks stay.Found the apartment really spacious and the kitchen was all white and very clean. The towels were changed every other day.We were on the seventh floor and had an amazing view of the med, which was really appreciated when you were sat on the balcony with a few drinks. If you're taking children with you, especially young ones, there is a flintstones kids club.Even though we never took chidren with us,they looked like they were having a ball! The pool is very clean and quite large and every day there was water games mainly for adults and teenagers which was quite funny to watch sometimes,oh and they also have a lifeguard. There was plenty of sunbathing areas placed around the pool on a large grassed area. The only downside was you had to pay for the sunbeds which was 2 euros each but i think this only applies to peak weeks.we only had to walk down a small ramp and you were on the beach which was lovely and clean.A lovely tiled promenade not far from the marina, and great to walk along in the morning.I would definatley reccomend this hotel to families and couples, would certainly go back there!!

great location

thought the sol timor was clean, close to both benalmedina and torremolinos and i'd go back there again - the man in the supermercado was really friendly and nice

Basic or what!

from Inishowen
I have just returned from a family holiday staying at the Sol Timor apartments the only good thing was the location but definately not suitable for a family with young children. The noise from the disco at night was unbelievable and with no air conditioning you had to keep the windows open so it meant you either were deafened or roasted! The apartments were really really basic no kettle you had to pay extra to rent one I would consider that basic equipment and the sheets only changed every 4 days and towels every 2 with young kids not relly enough. Having stayed near by last year the apartments need a major revamp and updating I was so disappointed and the holiday was not cheap. I would not recommend if it is peace and quiet you want and a few home comforts.

Clean enough but shame about the itchy sofas!

from jenster
I think some of the other reviewers must have very different ideas to mine about what constitutes a good quality apartment. The place certainly was clean although I did feel the need to clean the kitchen before cooking anything. But it certainly wasn't above more than 2 stars in terms of quality, and yes maybe we should expect to have to deal with drunken English football fans when in Spain but it was quite annoying to be overlooking an Irish bar on the night England played.
My husband and I thought Torremolinos itself would be a great place to bring kids, it feels like a very quiet, very safe and very clean town. We just wouldn't stay at the Sol Timor again and from this experience, not at any of the other Sol chain properties either.
And beware of the extremely itchy sofas made of some fabric which went out of production in the 60s!

These apartments have one of the best locations in the area with sea views from all rooms.Although closer to Belnamadena than Torremolinos both are linked by an excellent promenade on which it is a joy to walk.

Staff very friendly, even in the Supermercado -almost unheard of!

Some minor irritants included having to rent (a somewhat antique!)kettle with a 30 euro deposit (bring enough cash!) and being charged 4 euros per day for the sunbeds which would normally be free in most places. However, these were outweighed by all else including the weather, the food and general scenery.

Highly recommended!

Lovely holiday

We have just returned from the Timor Sol Apartments, Torremolinos. The apartments were lovely, we were on the 10th floor which at first I didn't fancy but it was great. Lovely view, nice cool breeze, we never waited for a lift more than a few seconds. We had a great time, lovely walk into Torremolinos centre to meet our friends and lovely walk to Benalmadena.

Very enjoyable stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Hotel is very well situated just of the beach, very clean pool area. And the room was claen with all the basic needs for self catering. Dont be fooled when they say its in Torremolinos. its more towards belamadine marine, where you have all the pubs. disco and food places all at hand. you will be spoiled with choice. The down side is it is not air conditioned, though you can hire fans and no kettle, agian you can rent one. you also have to pay 2 euros for the pool loungers. which is another hidden cost to your holiday. Rooms are cleaned often. a very good hotel.

Top Local Tips for Torremolinos

High Season Do not take Sun lotion which is water resistant. You Fry

Torremolinos Torremolinos was a great place to stay, because it's location ,was a good central location, to get to other areas of interest, in the southern part of Spain, such as Malaga, Granada,Seville,Tangiers etc.Public transportation was also excellent!

Getting there If you want to beat the rush. Get a taxi from the airport. It is ony €20 and well worth it. We were first to the Sol Timor, and we got first choice of rooms. Just let your respective rep know at the airport, becaue they can tick you off their list for the coach.
