We have just returned from your hotel after two weeks holiday, a fab hotel a great location good food and very nice people mainly ex pats, the weather was great the first week but iffy the second but this did not keep us in as there is so many places to visit, the pubs at the entrance Mr Geves, Brogans, Champagne Charlies are very friendly do the quizzes and play the bingo and you all ways feel welcome, this is our first visit to this resort but cannot wait to go back and hope we will be able to get the Aloha Hotel again and next time stay longer.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Sol Aloha Puerto Hotel

Brilliant Hotel, brilliant location.

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just back from the Sol Aloha Puerto and had an absolutely brilliant holiday. The room had a lounge area with a separate bedroom and a small but adequate balcony. When you walk down to the pool area the views over the beach are beautiful. Was not up early enough to get a bed but found beds on the beach with 6 inch thick mattresses for 3.5 Euros. Bear in mind that the beds on the beach were only 30 yards from the hotel. The promenade you cross to get to the beach has a beautiful Marina 100 yards to the right and stretches for a few miles to the left. It`s a very pleasant walk with plenty of bars/restaurants on the way. Out of the main hotel entrance and across a quiet road are more bars and restaurants. Our deal was half board and we were planning not to use the Hotel restaurant too much as we enjoy eating out. The food was so nice we only ate out once. There is a very wide choice including, fish, paella, chicken, beef from a carvery, various veg, chips, various desserts and my favourite whenever I am in Spain, Olives. I took a stash to my room to eat on the balcony while having a bottle of wine.
You must visit the Marina when you are there too, it`s stunning and has a few bars and restaurants that are well worth a visit.
Overall a fantastic holiday and for someone who never goes to the same place twice I think I`ve been converted. Suitable for all age groups, a great hotel, go and enjoy it.

Value for money, if you get a cheap deal....

Stayed for 4 days in May and quite enjoyed the Hotel. My tip would be to ask at reception for a room as high up as possible, the reason i say this is that you will not get a room directly overlooking the beach at the front of the hotel as these are all owned by time share or permanent residents. You stand a chance of being placed at the rear of the hotel overlooking 1 or 2 bars and shops, if this happens you will at least be up high enough to get a clear view overlooking the town and a way from the direct noise.
The location could not be better, you are litteraly 2-3min walk form the marina positioned right on the beach, there are nice resturaunts close by and the bars and shops only a short walk.
If you dont like cats dont go to this hotel, I must have seen about 15 mulling around the grounds of the hotel at all times. As far as the loungers go, you better be up at the crack of dawn if you want positioned at the pool, it was really busy in May, I would hate to think what it would be like in peak season. That said the hotel was good, very clean and the rooms were of a good size. I would go again without any doubts.

I stayed there for a weekend and it was fab!! I am extremely fussy and very critical of where I stay, but I must say I have nothing but praise for this hotel. First impressions are very important, on entering the hotel it had a friendly atmosphere, staff were efficient, friendly, courteous. Room was spotless, modern, well laid out, spacious. Loved the location. Not keen on going half board due to past experience but really couldn't fault it. Went there expecting to skp the dining room and eat out. Fact was we had all our meals in the hotel as they really did cater for everyone. Bars just across the road, no taxis required as everything you need is on the door step. Loved it so much I am going back next month for a week.

Good location

from loseapoint
The best thing about the hotel is the location - its close to the Marina, the beach and not too far from the Carihuela district with its fish restaurants. The rooms are of good size, with a separate lounge area, and there is entertainment on every evening in the bar. The hotel, however, is showing its age and the food was fairly ordinary. The lifts were a bit temperamental and my wife refused to use one of them throughout our stay !! This is a resort with a lot of competition for hotels. We've stayed in several others and this is nowhere near as good as the Melia Costa Del Sol, Pez Espada or the Principe, all of which we've rated better than this one. If locations important to you, pick this hotel; otherwise, go elsewhere...

Excellent Value

We stayed there for three weeks in October 2004. Only problem was the bitching Americans, If they want hamburgers they should stay at McDonalds. There were plenty of such fast food purveyors around.

Staff were helpful, tour guide was good at his job. Accomodation was satisfactoryand clean. Food was cafeteria style but there was sufficient variety to satisfy most tastes.

PS. We are American too.

Definitely 4 star loved the place

Excellent Christmas at Alloha Puerto Sol

Brilliant - We stayed at the Alloha Puerto from 23rd Dec to 30th Dec

2004. Excellent food, the Gala Dinner on Christmas day was super. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the south facing room which was brilliant towels changed every day and bedding every other day food generally was very good and the entertainment over Christmas was very good. There were a few bars open if you wanted a change in the evening. It helped as the weather for the time of the year was wonderful - no rain. Location was very good. Although it wasn't cheap the value was good. Tour to Gibralter was good value. Would stay there again

It's utterly ludicrous to describe this as a 4 star hotel.

First thing you'll notice is that there's practically no parking (there's not even space for you to stop and unload luggage) and hotel staff were less than helpful in suggesting where there might be anywhere to park.

The room I stayed in was adequate but nothing better than that. It appeared to have been refurbished recently but still looked tatty and in dire need of a makeover. It was also very noisy.

The hotel has a decent pool but getting hold of sun loungers is almost impossible (unless you're prepared to get up at 6am to deposit your towel on one). You also bizarrely have to pay 60c for each sun lounger (surely it would be simpler to just make them free rather than employ someone who's sole purpose is to annoy everyone by asking them for 60c every day).

On the plus side, the hotel has a great location right beside the beach and is just a few steps away from the Puerto Deportivo de Benalmadena which has a good selection of bars and restaurants.

Overall, not a bad hotel but needs a lot of improvement. Its best feature is its location and I would only bother going if you can get it at a very good price.

very sociable

i stayed at the aloha peurto in july 2002. the first room that we were allocated was full of cockroaches, but i went to complain and they moved us with no major problems. however, the rest of the holiday made up for this small glitch, the staff were freindly and sociable, and there were a wide choice of cuisines in the buffet style dining room. I would give the foodchoice and quality 95 %. The rooms were also very clean. The lifts were a bit dodgy though, they went really fast and absolutely tiny!!!!! Word of advice though, if you travel with thompson don't take up the offer of the free 'blanket trip', its a dodgy salesman trying to sell you blankets weaved by the poor mountain people!

Not really for singles

from ilovetravel50
I have just come back from nearly a week at the Aloha Puerto. I got a good deal on their website which included breakfast and halfboard. I'm in a really stressful job and wanted to chill out for a few days - somewhere that was not too expensive. When I arrived I was checked in speedily and made my own way up to a nice room with a salon. I had a good view of the sea and beach area. At night the air conditioning was noisy so I had to turn it off. Breakfast was very good you could have fruits, cereals, cooked anything you liked. It was very difficult to get someone to serve you with coffee though. Dinner in the evening was good quality food but once again difficult to catch a waiter's attention to serve you a drink. More often than not I didn't have a drink with my evening meal. I know the area well so didn't feel lonely - I went off for a walk either around the port or the Carihuela area.

I didn't go into the hotel bar because I didn't feel comfortable on my own. It is definitely a hotel for couples or families not for singles but I have come back refreshed and not so stressed. I would stay there again but either with family or friends - not on my own. Most of the staff were very polite. Meal times were good - breakfast didn't end until 10.45 am - so you didn't have to get up too early and dinner was at 9.30pm.

enjoyed the aloha puerto

we stayed at this hotel the last two weeks in March and enjoyed our holiday very much. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and there was a huge selection to choose from. The entertainment was first class and the lounge area was very comfortable.
The only down side was there was no quiet lounge to sit in if you did'nt feel like listening to the loud music. Our accomodation was also very comfortable with settes etc which was more than useful as it rained most of our holiday, but this has not put us off from returning to this marvellous hotel.

Top Local Tips for Torremolinos

Getting Around Public Bus service into Tormellinos was located on the street across from the hotel, and up the block for transport to Malaga. Taxi cabs were not that expensive, but the price must be established before you get in. Take arranged tours to the other cities, such as Corbova, Grenada, Seville. and Gibraltar. Forget Tangiers, dirty, and we were held "captive" while we were taught about carpets.

Aqualand fun especially with kids

Getting around Take the public bus to town. You can catch in front of the hotel.
