The food was stinking, I would not feed it to a dog. The plates were manky and so was the cutlery. The room smelt like a sewer every time you ran water. My daughter has food poisoning as well. The reception staff could not speak English. The beach is one of the best I've seen and to eat out you must go to the best bar in town La Colmena on the beach front next to El Horno beach. Forget the bar called Mermaids across from the hotel all you people who rated that dump must be on the glue. The chef was manky and sweat dripping of him onto the dinners. Torremolinos itself: 10 out of 10! The Las Polomas 0!!

be warned

Booked this hotel on a late deal, so got it at a good price and not got much to complain about. However if I had paid full price I would be after some form of compensation. If you have not yet booked a hotel then book somewhere else, if you have already booked then try to get a room on the pool side if you intend to do some sleeping while you are there.
The location is OK not far from the beach on a slight slope, the room we had was a fair size kept spotless clean and because it was the top floor had a sea view. The food is disgusting, breakfasts are swimming in fat and the evening meals compare with the worst I have had in any hotel. So allow for eating out when planning your buget. The entertainment does seem to be biased towards spanish, not suprising as most of the guests are locals. Also it does have it`s share of school children, while we were there 3 coachloads of spanish 14 to 16 year olds turned up (Heaven) the noise they made in the public areas was indiscribable.

Easter 2004 at Las Palomas-Teresa

from Teresa745
When I read the reviews on this website prior to holidaying at the Hotel Las Palomas I was almost afraid to go. However I needn't have worried. The hotel was a great base for what turned out to be a most enjoyable break for my husband myself and our two daughters. We spent a week at the hotel from the 9th to the 16th of April 2004 and found it to be very comfortable, (especially the beds), clean, with good food and in an excellant location. It is literally a couple of minutes from the beach and a bus stop ouside the hotel affords cheap travel all along the coast. The staff deserve a special mention as they were pleasant, attentive and most helpful at all times.I look forward to staying at this hotel on future visits to this area and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

My family and I have just come back from Hotel Las Palomas Torromolinos. Yes the hotel does need a lick of paint and a bit of decorating done however we had a lovely time. The hotel was very clean. Rooms cleaned every day, including towels changed every day. Food was good.Daytime activities good. Swimming Pools and gardens lovely, the pool at the bottom could have had the heating kept on a little longer. Hotel is in a great location.

good hotel

Just spent four days at this hotel for easter had a very nice time staff were friendly and helpfull, hotel was clean and tidy. Food was good and if there was something you didn`t like there was enough choice to find something that you did. The lack of air con was the biggest drawback but as it rained 2 out of 4 days didn`t really matter. The pools were very cold (the bottom 1 is heated but it had been switched off for the summer) but you soon got used to it. The evening entertainment was average but everyone who was there enjoyed it.I agree that it could do with a revamp but i would be pleased to go there again

Arrived on a saturday, wanted out the next day.We asked for a room away from the road ,this was ignored and we ended up looking down on what had become the main route as the top road was closed due to major roadworks. We were woken most nights by the traffic, incessant blowing of horns and the fact this was also a favourite destination of most of Italy's student population. They were running riot until the early hours. The food was bland and unimaginative, local entertainment non existant, although the staff were friendly. We agree with all other comments regarding decor.

Advantages beside imperfectness

Just be back to Vienn on 26/02/2004 from Las Palomas. Since I have read the review from Newport S.Wales UK before I went, so my husband and I have room facing the poolside instead of the street side, and we did have the better peace at night. But the problem was the connecting door to the room beside us - in 2 weeks staying, we hear all the possible noise beside our room if someone stayed there, especially a group of Spanish girls? chatting, laughing and going out and back at 4AM in the early morning. We just could not get any sleep during their staying. Situation did not change a bit even after we have tried to communicate with our neighbours and contacted reception. There is really nothing I can complain about the food. Buffet style breakfast and dinner were always fresh, clean and in very nice setting. So as well as the hotel, even it had its high time and looked a bit tire at this moment, but hotel management was great in keep it tidy and clean all the time. Cleaning maid has wiped floor and changed towel everyday. Hotel is in walking distance to centre of shopping district, and very close to all the wonderful seafood restaurants and beautiful decorated bars. With very convenient bus and train connection, it is very easy for the people want to make day trip to all the sea short cities nearby. It is true that the few necessary stairs in hotel and stairs on the sidewalk can be problem for older people, but it is really not that bad. Since from hotel to the flat, wide, traffic free, nice maintained sidewalk beside beach takes only few meters with stairs. My husband has made his daily jogging there everyday and enjoyed every minute of it. By the other way, after we have shopped around and found the best deal of car rental office, telephone service and short trip travel agency are all around of our hotel. For instance,we have only paid for EUR 120.- for 7 days 5-dr Fiat which was much cheaper than all the internet and travel agencies offers. After all, for the money we have paid for exchanging the service we have received, I will say it was a fair deal. If you are not one who just wants to spend all the vacation time in hotel, then Las Palomas does have its advantages beside its imperfectness.

re vegetarian)

from c0sm1k
I just got back from the Las Palomas Hotel 1st Feb 2004 on a 3* half board choice holiday. Myself and my husband had quite a few problems with the food as we are both vegetarian.

There were plenty of dishes with lots of nice looking vegetables but unfortunately they were covered in bits of dried meat which meant we were unable to eat them. No actual vegetarian dishes at all and all we could really eat were chips and bread.

The hotel itself was very dated but clean and tidy. When we first arrived we were put in a room which was overlooking the road (not a main road but very noisy due to diverted traffic). We spoke to the reception staff about this who were very helpful and moved us straight away to a better room on the other side of the hotel overlooking the pool area with a lovely sea view. The adjoining doors seem to be in all rooms and you can hear everthing going on in the next room!

Not disabled friendly

Not disabled friendly too many steps, poor location as on a hill. Staff there are quite friendly, food not upto scratch especially as raw meat is served and not cooked enough. poor selection of breakfast menu 2/10 . it needs a full refurbishment .

If you read the review from the visitor from Livrpool 17/09/2003. This will give my shared opinon and I will add a little bit more. My wife and I stayed for one week from 13/09/2003 - 20/09/2003 What ever you do make sure you have a poolside room, the floors above the reception level are best, I asked to be moved because we were at first placed on the road side, this location will not allow for a relaxing nights sleep trust me, we done it for one night and one night only. How ever the Hotel were happy to relocate us with no fuss. The Hotel is located in a good posistion close to the beach, pubs and main shopping area. The Hotel could do with a revamp, but is clean and tidy. The biggest let down was the rooms have NO AIR CONDITIONING even for a 3* I would expect this as standard especially as the climate in the Costa Del Sol is hot in the day and very warm in the night. We did have a fan for 5 nights which vanished mysteriously for the last two days. Maybe the hotel prefer warmer conditions? The room is of a good size for this class of hotel. On the whole the Hotel was ok, good location but could do with modernising. Hope this will help with your Holiday planning, regards two welsh nationals.

Top Local Tips for Torremolinos

Bus Buses are very easy to use to travel between the main coastal resorts. My tip would be to check which are the busy days i.e. market days and plan your trip accordingly. I spent a very sweaty 40 minutes into Fuengirola on the Tuesday - the bus was packed out!!

Caribbean Bar It looks pretty average, but this bar on la carihuela beach is really nice... good theme, good atmohsphere and really friendly staff. good for lunch or cocktails... 5 euros each - a lot cheaper than in benalmadena
