The hotel creates a really nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly and willing to help, the room was clean, the food selection and quality was good.
The hotel is located in a calm place a bit outside of the noisy city-center (max 15 minutes walk). BUT 2 pubs in the near were sometimes really a trouble at night (the room looked over the pool).
Nevertheless would stay here again!

We went in January for 5 days weather was bad. The hotel was spotless and so too our room, only fault with our room was it overlooked the main street, which was very noisy and the dustbin men came at 4am. Food was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would go back there again. We travelled independantly.
holiday would def go back there!

We went on a late deal AOA so we didnt no that we was goin to be stayin in the Don Paquito. When we got there and checked in we realised that the hotel was one of the cleanest that I have ever stayed in. You could not fault the rooms at all. It even had a fridge. We had a pool view and its was lovely, the best part of the sun hit our balcony at 7pm. The hotel is located about 2 mins from the beach so we would go down there for most the day then back to the pool before we got ready and went for dinner. The food you couldnt fault, it was always hot and fresh. Top holiday would def go back there!

good food good hotel

from daiward
one of the best hotels i have stayed in. i found the food was very good . the hotel was spotlessly clean the rooms all had hairdryer and fridge also a tv. i found this hotel to be of the highest standared and would not hesitate to book it again also the staff were incredibly helpfull and polite.the food was very good, an average of 6 starters to chose from and 5 main courses and to finish you had a choice of at least 9 sweets.the area it was in was convenient for bars and shops and a short walk took you to the town center, due to the position of the hotel it was quiet in the evening so sleeping was not a problem.the beds were larger than i have found in many spanish hotels and the mattress was of good quality unlike some hotels i have visited.the pool was of adequte size and the surround was again spotlesly clean.

Great Break

from billythegilly
we had a5night break here and enjoyed every minute. We found the food excellant with agood variety which should suit everybody. The staff were very helpful and freindly. Our only complaint was that the walls were very thin and would advise taking ear plugs! I will definatelyreturn but would notgo back in high season as Ithink it would be very noisy.

Nice hotel, shame about the food

from luci5
We stayed at the Don Paquito 26-31 December. The coach dropped us at the door, unlike those at the Don Pedro who had to walk a short distance as it’s behind the Don Paquito.

The hotel is very small with only 66 rooms on 5 floors. There was a small reception area with a very friendly and helpful receptionist, Patricia. Check in only took a few minutes and we were allocated a room on the 2nd floor. The first thing we noticed was how clean the hotel was, it was spotless.

Our room was at the back of the hotel facing the pool and got the sun all day. The room was quite small, but spotless with twin beds pushed together. There were two bedside tables, double mirrored wardrobes which housed the safe and a dresser with four small drawers and a fridge. There was also a TV which got some satellite channels including Sky News. There was a small balcony with table and chairs and the room was air conditioned. I found the bed comfortable enough when I went to sleep, but woke every morning aching and with a sore neck which could last most of the day. It seemed a bit better after I put a folded blanket under the pillow.

The bathroom had a bath with shower over, sink toilet and bidet. The shower had a glass enclosure rather than a curtain and there was a hairdryer.

We were half board, but didn’t like the food although it did improve a little on the last 2 nights.

The bar/lounge area was really nice and bright with poinsettias on every table and smoking was allowed, unlike the hotels Don Pedro and Don Pablo which had smoking areas away from the bar. We had toasted sandwiches and crisps which were €2 each, ½ litre of beer was €3.15, coffee €1.40, Smirnoff vodka €2.65 and a bottle of mixer €1.65, cocktails and long drinks were €4.50 and a glass of wine was €1.95. Happy hour was 5-6pm when all drinks were 2 for 1. The happy hour at the Don Pedro next door was 5.30-6.30pm and the Don Pablo next door to that was 5-6pm. The drinks were slightly more expensive at the other two hotels. Being a small hotel, there was no entertainment at night. We went to the entertainment at the Don Pablo one evening, but it was very amateurish so we didn’t go back.

There were several restaurants and bars in the area, but many of them were closed for the holidays. We particularly liked La Paella restaurant on the beach and Pub Madison on the front which was only open in the evening.

The hotel was less than 2 minutes walk to the beach and 10-15 minutes uphill to the centre of Torremolinos or 10 minutes along the beach promenade to the steps at the bottom of San Miguel Street, the main street in Torremolinos. From there you could either walk up the many steps to the top or take the lift which was 50c each.

We took the train east to Malaga and west to Fuengirola which were both €1.80 return each and took about 25 minutes. We also took the bus to Benalmadena which was €1.05.

The weather was partly cloudy the first 3 days and sunny the last 3 days with temperatures around 17-18 degrees

I found Torremolinos to be a bit dirty with a lot of graffiti which was especially noticeable from the train and there was a lot of dog mess. The beach however was beautiful, long and sandy.

Torremolinos was much more expensive than Fuengirola, eg chicken and chips was €8.50 in Torremolinos and €5.50 in Fuengirola. In Torremolinos we had to buy a drink and mixer separately at €4.30, in Fuengirola you could get a drink and mixer for €2.90. I had a small breakfast at the Crew Bar in Fuengirola for €4 including tea. A large breakfast was either €5 or 6. We also had a sirloin steak with mushroom sauce at the Scotsman in Fuengirola for €9.95 and a massive Knicker Bocker Glory for €3.95 which came in a ½ litre glass. However we did have a 3 course meal at a Chinese restaurant at the bottom of San Miguel Street in Torremolinos for €5.95 which was very nice; wine was €3 a glass.

We are going back to Torremolinos in 3 weeks time for a week AI at the Torremolinos Beach Club. For me Torremolinos is fine for a week’s winter break, but I wouldn’t go there for my main 2 week holiday.

Shame about the food

from OKAussie
Food poisoning puts a dampener on even the best of hotels. Book at your peril as we did because it was cheap plus it included breakfast AND dinner. Awful, Awful & more god awful food but we had pre-booked for our pre-Morocco tour so couldn't change our sleeping arrangements. However, we did eat elsewhere obviously we were not about to try the food again. I'm only just fully recovered (I think) after 3 weeks).

Most of the staff are exceptionally helpful (they need to be). The rooms are average but the location is good, if you like Brit packs & Brit food & Brit style beaches. Don't bother with Torremolinos its a dive which means its not worth a visit. Stay in Britain & put on a ray lamp, buy a bucket of sand & a paella. There is nothing Spanish about the place except a couple of road signs saying 'see an authentic bull fight' - yeah right!

The whole Torremolinos/Don Paquito Hotel experience was more like 'Bangkok Hilton' without the corrupt police - its really on the nose & you wonder why tourist bother except that its for those tourists who've never been anywhere but an eastern bloc country or the Black Sea resort managed by Boris someone or other.

Sorry thumbs down in every department, except maybe a boozy night for the boys who have stomachs like lead lined safety deposit boxes.

Loved every minute of our stay, staff excellent

from Jim3142
This was our third visit ti Don Paquito this year, level of service and staff manners and willingness to be of assistance is excellent. We will be staying again in the very near future.

Great Wee Hotel

from Dewar
We are just back from this great wee hotel having spent 9
nights there.
The rooms are lovely and spotlessly clean, the towels are changed daily and the bedlinen was changed 3 times when we were there. All the rooms have airconditioning at no extra charge,
a small fridge and a hairdryer.
The dining room is quite small but well run and again kept
spotlessly clean. The meals were very good with a good choice,
enough to keep most people happy.
The swimming pool and pool area were very well maintained
with plenty sunbeds. The staff were all very pleasant and
were very helpful.we would recommend this hotel for couples
as it had very little for children.
It is probably one of the best hotels we have stayed in.
Excellent value for money. We will be going back.

Excellent hotel, excellent services!!!

from frumu
A very well kept hotel having a good location either for beach or for entertainment.
Comfortable rooms and very clean, a bit noisy if you let the balcony door open over the night ( and which didn't cause me any problem to sleep), modern bathroom spotlessly clean. Great views from the higher floors. Nice swimming pool.
Excellent food with a wide range of choises. I loved the specialties based on fish and sea food.
All the staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the girls at the reception.
An advice for who wants to see more then Torremolinos: rent a car, the climatisation is mandatory, and go and swim in the tiny little bays along the coast, it's heaven.
Definitely go again!

The Best in Torremolinos.

My husband and myself stayed for 7 nights. We cannot fault this hotel. The staff are the most freindly people who cannot do enough for you. The food is the best in the Costa Del Sol. The rooms are extremely clean with fresh towels every day. The beds are changed twice weekly. The swimming pool is lovely and the area is washed down every day. Its exactly what we were looking for, a nice quiet hotel situated in a nice area whithin easy walking distance to the beach or shops. We were passing reception one day when some fruit was being delivered and made a comment saying Oh that looks nice. When we went to our room later there was a basket of fruit sitting on a tray. Alonso left it for us, he is really nice. Patricia on reception cannot do enough and is such a lovely girl. We cant wait to go back again, it is made esier for us as Monarch Airlines are now doing a direct flight from Aberdeen to Malaga. We booked the holiday ourselves the first time ever. We booked through Atlas Choice which was the cheapest we could find. We booked the flights on line also. We searched to find the Taxi fare which is approx 15 Euros from Airport to Hotel. We spoke to several people staying who were all really happy with the hotel.

Great little hotel

from Kaz22
My friend and I have just returned from a short 5 day break at the Don Paquito. We chose to stay here after reading the great reviews and comments on Trip Advisor before booking. We weren't disappointed. The room was lovely, modern, smart and spotless clean, not over big but adequate for 2 people. Bathroom was a little on the small side but again lovely and fresh and modern, although we had an corner room with a small balcony and I'm guessing some of the other rooms could be bigger. We had a lovely view over the pool and the Sol Don Pedro next door. We had no complaints whatsoever about the food, the only little niggle was that sometimes we weren't sure what some of the meat/fish dishes were, as nothing was labelled. The locaton is great, a few minutes walk to the beach and a about 10 minutes to San Miguel Street and the station in the centre, depending which way you chose to walk. Not a lot for children to do but you dont have to walk far to find entertainment depending on the age of the child. There was no evening entertainment but it was only late Feb/early March. All in all a 4*+ hotel at 3* prices.
