In a wonderful location on the narrow streets of Toledo this hotel represents the best value for money that I have ever experienced. Friendly staff are there to greet you and show you to your clean, well decorated en suite room. Ours had two small balconies - wonderful! within walking distance of all the sights, restaurants and coffee places, we fully intend going back.
Excellent location, comfortable and clean.

The Santa Isabel is a small hotel and is ideally located to explore the cobblestone streets of Old Toledo. It's exterior is bathed in antiquity, but it's interior is fresh and modern. The mangement and employees are gracious and helpful. They have a restaurant, but it is mediocre. I recommend you follow the savory aromas as you sightsee and try the small restaurants and bakeries. I will stay there again on my next visit to Toledo.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Santa Isabel Hotel

Wonderful cheap hotel

from Siddh
This was, by far, the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Spain. We paid E45 per night for a double room and stayed for two nights.

Our room was large with lovely hardwood floors and two balconies (ours might be the only one with two balconies, ask for room #102). The staff spoke english and were very helpful. The hotel is right next to the cathedral and close to all the sights and the good restaurants. The room was great value for money. A very minor complaint is the tiny bathroom.

Getting there from the bus station:
You can take the #5 or the #6 bus to "Plaza de Zocodover" and the hotel is a 15 minute walk from there. Walking from the bus station to the plaza is a fair climb up the hill and takes about half hour (with a big backpack).

The "Rough Guide to Spain" has the location of the hotel marked WRONG in their map. Make sure you are heading to the right place, the hotel is on "Calle de Santa Isabel" close to the cathedral.

It really really helps to have a good map of Toledo. The streets are windy and it is very easy to get lost. I bought the "Illustrated map of Toledo, World heritage city" at the bus station for E2 and liked it a lot.

Hugh Room!

Highly recommend Santa Isabel. We stayed one night in March 05 and paid E45. The room has hardwood floors and was hugh, clean, and very nice. Though if you are looking for a backpacker kind-of cozy, friendly atmosphere, it was not.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Santa Isabel for our spring break during the month of March of 2005. Highly recommend just taking a taxi from the bus station there, it should only cost about 5 euros. The place wasn't spectacular from the outside, but for the price we figured it wouldn't be much of a looker. But once inside (the front desk people are so nice) we were speechless. The hotel is beautiful and has a life of its own. A perfect mix of old and new. The rooms are small in comparison to US hotels, but compared to the other hotels that we stayed in while in Spain this was the most spacious. We stayed in four other hotels on our trip and this was the most affordable, and by far the nicest. The room was extremely clean, the bathroom was amazing (it even had a towel warmer!!). The location of the hotel is perfect, everything worth seeing in Toledo is within walking distance (cathedral, bridge, plaza, food). The sunrise view from the roof of the hotel was beautiful.
In short - I recommend this place to anyone who is going to Toledo. The price is so so so affordable, and you will be not disappointed!!!!

Fabulous Old Hotel in Old City

from rlbrowdy
Driving to the hotel was quite an experience through the tiny streets. Fairly good signage to find it, though. Parked in the hotel's garage across the street. The hotel is very clean and in a perfect location. Staff spoke English and were very helpful. Parts of the hotel are extremely old. We were in the newer addition. The hotel fit the beautiful city of Toledo. Don't come to Spain without seeing Toledo and we recommend that you stay in the Hotel Santa Isabel.

Great value and location

from SanDiegobased
I stayed here for one night in November 2004 after viewing the hotel website and confirming reservations by e-mail. The location, right in the middle of Toledo could not be better for exploring on foot. To get to the hotel we took a taxi from the bus station and were very happy we did. The incredibly narrow streets, (one car width) made the taxi ride almost a highlight!
In an old building, the interior has been totally renovated. Our ground floor room was quite small but comfortable for one night. Breakfast was uninspiring, and I would not recommend it.
I would certainly stay here again...and don't miss the morning rooftop views of the Cathedral and the Alcazar.

Perfect location

We drove into Toledo and the hotel was a little hard to find, but once found it exceeded my expectations for a hotel with such reasonable rates. The desk was helpful and spoke English. Our rooms were in the section off to the side of the original structure, and they were small, but beautiful, with lots of wood, great bathroom, very clean. It was August when we stayed here, and the room temperature was fine. Beautiful tile walls in the other part of the building. Nice breakfast area, we didn't eat much, but the fresh squeezed orange juice was great. Centrally located next to the cathedral and the shopping area. We couldn't park in the hotel's garage because it was full, but another one a block away was just a little higher in price. All in all one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. Be sure and take the elevator up to the roof for a great view of Toledo.

Great Value and Location

We stayed at Hotel Santa Isabel during our stay in Toledo in early October. Booked direct with the hotel after reading the tripadvisor reviews and looking at the hotel's website. Got a room in the relatively new extension for 45 euros a night. Room was quiet, clean and big, bathroom modern, and the view was great. Easy walk to all the sights. We drove into Toledo, and ended up parking at a roomy carpark close to the hotel, though the hotel has it's own parking. Would happily recommend this hotel to others.

Excellent,when found

from A TripAdvisor Member
difficult to find in a car and, for us, quiet. very conveneiently situated for the cathedral. friendly proprietors who all spoke good English. This and the underground garage were major pluses. the breakfasts were a little sparse. but good for our waistlines..generally execptionally good value.
stayed two nights 7 and 8 october 2004

Must stay at the Isabel

from King_Henrik
Lovely hotel, rooms excellent- traditional spanish but with a modern feel. Excellent accomodation and very good value for money close to the main attractions in Toledo. Must stay here.

A nice surprise

from Popebaron
This is probably the best 2 star hotel I've ever stayed in anywhere. The new renovation of the old building looks great. It's just a bit of a shame that the internal sound proofing must have been a low priority. Although we had no problem with street noise. The room we had was clean modern and comfortable. The breakfast room looked a bit tired compared the the rest of the hotel but the staff were friendly. The hotel also has garage underneath which is a godsend in Toledo. The hotel is also in a great location.

Top Local Tips for Toledo

El Greco Museum This museum seemed overrated to me. You have to be a big fan of El Greco already, I think, to enjoy this museum. It doesn't help that it is so mobbed, even in the off-season, that you practically get pushed through.

Driving Driving and parking in Toledo old town is pretty horrendous. Hotel Santa Isabel has its own small secure carpark, which is invaluable.

Watch Out For Restaurant Rip-Offs Some of the tourist restaurants in Toledo will charge you $5 or more for a basket of bread, even if you don't ask for it or eat it, without listing a price on the menu. We were even charged about $1.50 for a pat - a tiny foil-wrapped square - of butter that we asked for to go with the bread. Be sure to ask if the bread is free (gratis - "grah-tees") and refuse it if you don't want it. (The Restaurante Placido on Calle Santo Tome pulled all of this, and more on our party.)
