Ideally situated overlooking the Plaza de Iglesia and just two minutes walk from the centre of town, the Hotel Monopol is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. The hotel is a tourist attraction in its own right.
Front of hotel room on the 3rd floor is perfection.
We are returning in May for our fourth visit.

We booked the Hotel Monopol through Thomson and had read mixed reviews. We were pleasantly surprised and found the hotel most convenient. Our balcony overlooked the Town Hall Square and we spent many happy hours 'people-watching' there. We were B.& B. only as we enjoy eating out - the breakfast was buffet-style and could perhaps have been better. Otherwise the hotel was perfect for our needs.

Top Local Tips for Puerto de la Cruz

A town with character but drowning in traffic and tourism Puerto has character for a larger town but some of it is struggling to make itself felt with all the tourism crowds and traffic that the town wasn't designed for, even in February. Nice seafront location and plenty of tourist shopping if you like that kind of thing. Finding your way around the narrow streets in a rental car is for the experienced driver. Stay near the seafront if you can, otherwise you'll find yourself negotiating hills for everything. If you like character without the crowds and noise, opt for one of the smaller towns, e.g. La Orotava or Garachico.

Places of Interest 1. free train ride to beautiful zoo/park. 2. orchid garden and botanical garden a must. 3. old church opposite hotel and other churches 4. pleasant walks about town without having to go up and down too many hills 5. spring is a lovely time to visit as the weather is not too hot
