JUST RETURNED 23nov Great Hotel nice and clean with good food and friendly restaurant staff not suitable for older people to go into town centre as its like going up and down the steps to Whitby Abbey! Although the taxi is only 3euros. I would not however recommend it to the under 40's unless you intend to sunbath and be very quiet! As surprisingly there are a lot of retirement plus age group who just don't like younger people enjoying themselves! I (BEING IN MY FIFTIES MYSELF) took my 3 daughters 19,27,and34 respectively and enjoyed us by ignoring the disapproving tuts and stares from the older generation! The reps were helpful and friendly Leslie and partner (the evening entertainment) were a good laugh!!!!

Top Local Tips for Puerto de la Cruz

What to do in Puerto de la Cruz Visit the Loro Parque. It is better than Terra Natura in Benidorm. Take a trip to the TEIDE, it is well worth the visit but dont take the teleferic, you can't go into the volcano anyway... Visit the island, the pyramids of Güimar, the square and church at the town below (forgot the name but there are 8 statues of the warriors that ruled the island before the conquest). Don't bother with camel tours or the "los gigantes", nothing special there... Do sit down at the square bars and listen to the music. Visit the parc of the Drago. It's just a tree but it's a nice walk. But Most Important of all: visit the village of the OROTAVA... It is where the bourgeoisie settled down... Most impressive architecture...

Loro Parque Great day out, take the free road train from the Centre of town.

Eat with the locals Go to the other side of the harbour and there are a couple of restaurants used by the locals. Very Good.
