We have just returned from the Mediterranean Palace and found it cold and lacking in atmosphere. The interior is impressive with seating distributed in groups amongst fountains - but there is no reason to sit there unless your waiting for your room or your taxi to go home. The breakfast was limited and we were glad we were only B&B. The pool area is excellent - the best part of the hotel. It is hyped up as part of the Mare Nostrum Resort but it's just a group of interlinked hotels. The Alantis Chill out zone on the forth floor is lovely but not the prices £20 for two coffees and two Brandys. None of the staff looked that happy and how it can be rated as 5 star by some is beyond me - yes a waiter will bring your coffee to the sunbed but forgetting any sugar and never returning with it is hardly 5 star. All a little pretentious and in need of refurbishment.

Bargain Bargain bargain Never accept the first price of electrical/electronic goods! It is possible to pay 50% of the original asking price. Check around on your first few days and buy whatever it is you wanted on your last few days after you have priced it in several different places. Note the name of the cheapest place and use it to get a better deal somewhere else. I bought a digital camera that was being sold for an asking price of approx €250 in most shops. I ended up paying €120 for it. Be warned once you buy a camera, do NOT be sucked into buying the extras. Do not buy more powerful longer lasting batteries or bigger capacity memory cards, they are cheaper to buy on ebay by up to 50% when you get home!!!
