Poorly Maintained, Poorly Staffed
This hotel has one big thing going for it - a terrific view of the Mediterranean from its expansive rooftop terrace. If you can stand the wind - and Tarifa is almost always windy - it's wonderful to sit up on the terrace and watch the kite-surfers in the ocean below.
Unfortunately, the hotel is poorly maintained. The cement railings along the balcony were cracking, and the paint was peeling. The door to our bathroom was mildewed and splintered along the bottom, although the room was otherwise clean.
Worse, the front desk staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. For example, when we asked to exchange a few of our towels for fresh ones, we were refused. "One towel a day." Pretty rough treatment at fairly high prices during the off-season.
If you can get a room that opens onto the roof terrace and you can stand the rude treatment, it still might be worth it. But I think there must be better deals in Tarifa.
