Top Local Tips for Sevilla
Flamenco The flamenco at the cultural center was terrific. They perform in a courtyard that has been tented over, and it's a different program every night. We saw four - guitar, singer, female dancer, and male dancer. I'm no expert, but this seemed authentic from what I have read. Not spontaneous, but real. The singer did some songs from the first third of the 20th century. The male dancer provided a rhythm section with complicated hand claps. The songs and dances seemed very expressive. If I knew Spanish I'd have understood better but they communicated a lot by tone and posture.
don't stay at hotel simon Don't stay at the Hotel Simon. It made it so that we were unable to enjoy Seville and unable to include any tips to others about the area.
organic burger bar there's an organic burger bar (i suspect it's part of a chain) you might stuble upon, i can't remember what it's called, but it's beside McDonalds on the river so you're likely to see it. AVOID! the food is brutally bad. had a burger, salad and a smoothie. the smoothie was warm, the burger meat virtually non-existant in the foamy bun and old lettuce. the salad totally in-edible. it cost a fortune (over €20 for 2 people) and had so much plastic packaging i felt guilty afterwards.
