Friendly,good value small hotel

An excellent small hotel in a superb position to make the most of a visit to Seville. Step out of the hotel and you're right in the heart of the old city with everything within easy walking distance. Close to many good tapas bars.
Front desk staff, efficient, friendly, very helpful and speak English.
Rooms are small but well furnished and clean with air conditioning. Bathrooms very small and the shower is a squeeze - but hot water plentiful.
It's really excellent value for money.

I stayed in this hotel with my girlfriend and whenever we needed any kind of advise, the gentlemen and a lady at the front desk were very nice and helpful especially when we had questions about directions and places. Thank you. J & B

Staff were extremely efficient and friendly and speak good English. Rooms are adequate and the heater was a great asset, as many pension don't offer a heater and all floors are marble so at night if you don't have heating it is FREEZING!
Location is great with easy walking distance to everything you could want to see.
More like a 3 star than a 1 star, but they are only 1 star because they don't have a gym or an inhouse restaurant! Very cute furnishings and welcoming feel.

We stayed at the hotel in December over christmas. The floor was extremely cold due to stone flooring otherwise the room was warm enough. Staff helpful. Clean. Nice area. Cheap internet. Value for money. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

Great location, fantastic price

We stayed at the Hotel Puerta de Sevilla for two nights in October 2005.
I'd selected the hotel based on the reviews I'd read here on tripadvisor.com and the hotel's website. It turned out to be charming, and in great location, right on the edge of the Barrio Santa Cruz and above a frituria. The price certainly could not be beat at 78 euro per night.

Our room was nice, but very small, with charming décor and a tiny balcony on the front of the hotel overlooking the street below. While we were there we checked out a couple of other rooms and none were much larger.
The TV had CNN (which I love), and the beds were fine. The only drawback was the tiny bathroom, with the world's smallest shower. There is no tub, which is ok with me, but the shower was so small I could barely bend down to pick up my shampoo or soap and there is no shelf on which to put them. It's one of those corner showers which has two sliding doors which pull together. I spent the rest of the trip looking at people larger than myself, thinking, "that person wouldn't even fit inside the shower in Sevilla".
The front desk staff were pleasant and very helpful throughout our stay. There's a computer in a small room off the lobby with internet available for 1 euro per 1/2 hour.

The stay was short, but everything was charming and friendly: the room, the apmosphere, the service and the location; overall it was an excellent choice. recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Great value option

Undoubtedly this hotel offers excellent value for money.

The location is great and the rooms were clean. Ideal city break hotel in other words.

I'm not sure how the star system works in Spain, but don't be put off by the one star (I assume this is due to no bar / restaurant and there's hardly any shortage of those in the area!), I've stayed in far worse 3 stars.

No complaints, especially for the price, but not the overall quality to warrant 5 out of 5.

Great at three times the price

Utterly charming at an unbelievable price. Close location to major sites and to restaurants. Balcony overview from most rooms. The street below has the Andalusian charm of sidewalk restaurants, yet the rooms are quiet. Clean modern rooms with every detail attended to by a staff that cares. I have been fortunate to stay in many good hotel rooms across the world and this is true quality. Be kind to yourself and your wallet. This is a great one.

Charming, convenient place

The Puerta de Sevilla staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, constantly mapping out directions for us and even helping us find the petrol station closest to the train station; they spoke great English too. The rooms were admittedly quite small, as advertised in previous reviews, but they have the usual amenities of a hair-dryer, TV, etc., and are charmingly decorated. There is a fair amount of noise from the street below, but I’d say the noise is simply part and parcel to any true Sevillian experience – people there are just lively all night in their uniquely Spanish way. And the hotel is conveniently located towards an eastern edge of the Barrio de Santa Cruz – I say “convenient” because, if you have a car, this means you don’t have to navigate the windy narrow streets that make the historic district the charming place it is. A public parking garage (14.10 Euro/day) is immediately behind/underneath the building.
A couple of negatives: Their advertised internet access did not work the entire time we were there (4 nights spread out over 6 days), but, as a consolation, there is an internet café just down the street that’s open until 8. Also, the hotel steered us to flamenco dancing that was quite the tourist trap (canned music, melodramatic and somewhat lifeless dancers, with an audience obviously full of busloads of tourists). Otherwise the time spent at Hotel Puerta de Sevilla was great. Huge bang for your buck.

Clean, friendly and located in the historic centre of Seville

Enjoyed 7 nights in this hotel which is located within walking distance of the main attractiond in Seville - about 10 minutes stroll to the Cathederal and Real Alcazar and about 15 minutes to the Plaza Espania. The reception staff all spoke good english and could offer plenty of information about the tourist attractions. The hotel is spotlessly clean and comfortable - the only downside is that noise from the surrounding bars can go on a little late on Saturday night though not so bad on weekdays. The hotel has no resturant facilities but this is not a problem as there are plenty of resturants and tapas bars surrounding the hotel. Highly reccommended at 84 Euros including tax for a double room.

Top Local Tips for Sevilla

Great Walking Tour We did a walking tour through Concepcion Delgada - it was 10 euros per person, and Alfonso the guide did a very nice job. If you're interested in this, you can call Concepcion 9901-158-226) and reserve a spot, or just show up at the Plaza de Triunfo (under the statue with the guy on a horse) at 10:30 a.m. Her business has increased due to a mention in Rick Steves, so if she has over 15 people show up, she often has another person and the group divides into two. I'd highly recommend this walking tour to get a feel for the city.

Flamenco if you go to one of the info centers (tourist offices) that are on most maps, you can pick up a 10% coupon for a flamenco performance at Los Gallos, small, intimate club in the Barrio de Santa Cruz. If you go to the venue the afternoon of the performance (performances are at 8pm and 10:30pm), you can get tickets at 10% off, rather than having your hotel book it as they usualy jack up the price. Tickets here also include one free drink per person. I found it nicer to go to a small venue, great performers.

Train Reservations If traveling to or from Seville on the train on a holiday weekend, be sure to get train seats in advance. Had to wait 5 hours to get back to Madrid on the train.
