A very grand hotel with friendly and organised staff. Quite expensive but nice central location.

Plain; Great Location

from mswoojie
This hotel is very plain and simple. It is not for couples on a romantic getaway. However, hotel is clean and centrally located to all tourist sites. Not all the staff speaks English but they tried to be helpful nonetheless. This decor of the room was interesting because the bathrooms are marble and look very modern but the bedrooms are old and dingy.

Excellent clean and central hotel.

We stayed in this hotel from 7 September 2004 for a week. This hotel really is excellent. The rooms are spotless and are cleaned thoroughly every day.

Its location is also superb, being less than a five minute stroll from the main shopping area, five minutes from the river and about ten minutes to the major sights. The street it is located on also has some excellent restaurants including a tapas restaurant right next door.

One minor quibble would be the strange chair scraping noises we heard in our room some nights which we could not work out where they were coming from!

Seville itself is fantastic and on returning to this part of Spain I would have no hesitation in staying at Hotel Becquer again.

Tops in Seville

An elegant and friendly meduim size hotel(139 rooms on six floors) Reasonably priced in a convenient and central neighborhood. Buffet breakfast in a large skylit room with high quality . Suprising extras ---jacuzzi tub ,pants presser and electric hot water canister with various teas
in room. Lives up to its 4 star rating . Highly recommended (we stayed there June 2004 for three nights)

Andalusian Delights

We recently spent four enjoyable days at the Becquer Hotel. It's central location allowed us to walk to many sights and to dine at the nearby tapas bars and to view the nightly paseos. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The buffet breakfast stations provided a tasty array of food items, including fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, and Spanish meats, cheeses and breads. We would definitely stay at the Becquer Hotel the next time we visit Seville. Seville is a vibrant city that combines both the ancient and the modern world.

Wonderful deal

This hotel was wonderful. The room was clean and nicely sized and so was the bathroom. It was in walking distance of pretty much everything... and the front desk, although not english speaking at all, were really nice and eager to help. They even lent us an extention to our US electic adapter.
Be sure to visit the Alcazar, Cathedral and the Santa Cruz area... and if you really want to know about the city, try to find a walking tour guide... the bus guides arent worth your time or money.

Great Location...keep your keys!!!!

Was a great hotel to relax in Seville. The location was fine, within a few min. walk of the bullring, cathedral, the river, and great food/shopping. The people of seville are without a doubt some of the most friendly in Europe! The staff treated us very well......after we were robbed!!! BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT GIVING YOUR KEY BACK to the front desk!!! On our 2nd night there, we came back to the hotel after a fantastic day of shopping and a great night of tapas at the adjacent cafe at the front of the hotel...... Only to return to find they gave our key to "some tall people that said they knew you!!!" WHAT!!!!! @#%!@#% Only to find our room ransacked, all our valuables gone and the next 24 hrs spent back and forth between the hotel and the national police office (with little help from the night desk staff)!! To say the least our day was ruined and we thought our vaction ruined also!! But thanks to some amazing supervisors (in the day shift!!) and a quick meeting with the manager the next day the problem was quickly solved and the rest of our stay went without a hitch (except for some of the food at breakfast.....). So, the city was amazing, the hotel in the end was very nice, the staff became helpful with alot of pushing by us, and after a relaxing massage in the adjacent spa the trip was saved....barely. Just DO NOT GIVE YOU KEY AWAY!!!!

Loved it!

This is the place! Unless you're interested in staying in the lap of luxury, this is the hotel you're looking for.The place was very comfortable and the staff was the friendliest I think I've ever encountered. Very helpful and all seemed to be having a good time.We spent 3 weeks in Spain and this hotel was the best deal of all. I got a two room suite for less than most places would charge for one room.
Parking is available in the basement, and that is a real plus too. They're close to everything. If and when I return to Sevilla, this is where I'll stay. It's the shoe store capitol of the world! My wife was in heaven!

As Trip Advisor reviewers said, the hotel had a great location (with parking below the hotel). Only downer was the breakfast -- but the room and the staff were very nice.

Very nice with mysterious noises

from A TripAdvisor Member
Becquer is in a great location - in 5 minutes you can be at the river or deep into the small streets of Sevilla near the catherdral. Our room was on the inner courtyard - a sort of large well with plants, but very quiet. Except, that is, for the mysterious noises that began about 7am and lasted into 10pm - sounds like people sliding furniture on tile floors! Every day for 3 days, there they were. We mentioned it to the hotel and they seemed perplexed. I went into the hall and you could clearly hear them from the entire end of the building we were in. Since we were on floor 1, maybe it was coming from a business under our floor, as it didn't seem to be coming from the hotel. At least they didnt continue in to the night. The small bar restaurant next door (on Reyes Catolicos) is very nice if you're pooped and just want a quick bite or coffee in the am. We had a bit of confusion with the check-in as we had cancelled our first night, but they were inclined to charge us for it anyway. I spoke with the manager the next day, and although a bit condescending, she said she would come up with an agreeable solution. Upon check out they did not charge us for the cancellation (which we made weeks in advance). All in all, I'd certainly stay there again. With one caveat - we stayed a week later passing through Sevilla at the small Hotel Maestranza on a very tiny street behind the bullring, next to perhaps the best restaurant in town, Enrique Becerra, and it was also wonderful and quiet, a bit less fancy and modern overall, but also cheaper. It's a toss up. But Sevilla was certainly one of the wonderful stops on our tip - the city is incredible...Enjoy!

nice room

I recently stayed in the hotel two nights in late December 2003. The location is ideal, being close to the art museum, the Santa Cruz area, the river and bridge to Triana and the bull ring. At least one staff member during each shift understood and spoke English (not the same, since you can get perfect answers to questions you didn't ask) and guided our drive into the hotel when we got lost downtown, recommended outstanding tapas bars in the area, made reservations for a flamenco show and confirmed our Christmas eve dinner at the next hotel. We got a great rate through travelocity and the room was better than I had expected. The art deco cafe adjacent to hotel was great for breakfast (10EU for two). There are many excellent restaurants and tapas bars in the immediate area for lunch and dinner, especially on Zaragosa St and Diaz St. The auto garage had friendly staff always on duty and good security. I would definitely stay at the Becquer again.

Top Local Tips for Sevilla

River just by the hotel When you come out of the hotel, instead of heading into town one evening, turn right instead and cross over the river's bridge. There are loads of lovely restaurants and little bars there that have a different atmosphere than all the busy bars etc. in the main squares. We particulary like Mama Mia's Italian food but you need to book if you're going at peak time, ie. around 10pm!

Stick to tapas Avoid the restaurants they are poor -stick to the tapas bars, just graze thru' the evening!

See the White Hill Towns We booked a trip to see the White Hill Towns and they were excellent. We have not seen much like that in the world. It is a must.
