We stayed here in august, very hot (41 degrees) and it was always a pleasure to return to the cool reception area after a hot day out. We had read quite negative reviews beforehand, and were therefore pleasantly surprised by what we found. Perhaps a little way out from the main sites, but perfectly walkable, even at those temperatures. Staff were very friendly and helpful, air conditioning worked a treat. As for cleanliness, I lost a contact lens on the first night, so we both ended up on hands and knees - no problem with cleanliness! Walls were a little thin but no problem. One English TV station (but a choice of film channels) - what can you expect from a city that caters to around 16 different nationalities ?? Good breakfasts with lots of choice. Apart from location, cannot fault this hotel!

Top Local Tips for Sevilla

Semana Santa I think this is quite an overrated event in Seville. Mind you, the statues are something incredible. Really really nice. But the processions themselves are boring. I mean, seeing one procession with a thousand Nazarenos (hooded persons) holding a candleis OK but when all the procession are like that it gets kind of boring especially. So waiting to see this statue can get endless. One particular procession the Macarena has around 3000 of these Nazarenos - split between 2 statues - which I repeat are wonderful. I think it pays you more to go see the statues while they are in their church. Thus you gain more time and do not get bored. If you are interested in processions though I would suggest visiting Malta. Their statues are nice (not as nice as the Spanish) but instead of Nazarenos they have people dressed up as personalities from the Bible which makes it far more interesting. Apart from that each village doint this event in malta has 8-10 statues. The only hitch is that mostly all processions take place at the same time(Friday app 5pm) so the only way to see more than one is by watching one come out, grab a taxi and go see another one go back in. However on Thursday night and Friday morning you can go see this status in the various churches and during the whole week you can also visit the numerous exhibitions/pageants that the Maltese people do. Definitely much more interesting than the Sevillan one.

What not to miss Must see - Real Alcazar, Giralda, Jardines de Murillo. Be prepared for city bars and restos to be crammed during Semana Santa - things got back to normal on Easter Sunday, thank God!

Have plenty of euros Make sure you take euros before you arrive to seville. There are not many places that will change currency.
