Charming hotel, helpful staff
from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed here one night on a recent trip to Sevilla and it definitely earns all of the positive reviews. The staff in particular were so nice and helpful - we were having trouble deciphering bus options to our next destination and the person at the desk repeatedly called the bus station until someone answered (which as we discovered takes patience) and got us all the needed info. The place itself was charming and reasonably priced. If/when I make it back to Sevilla, I will definitely try to stay here.
As nice as they say

Beautiful little hotel, very nice staff. Only problem was our room was on the main floor and was noisy and had little light, so try to avoid that room.
Terrific!

Great location and great staff. A beautiful lobby and a terrific rooftop terrace.

Staying in this small hotel was a real experience. We went in Holy Week (a pretty surreal experience in itself) and we could not have asked for more from this hotel. The staff were excellent and extremely polite, and they went out of their way to be helpful with directions by email before we arrived.
The hotel is smart but not stuffy. There is free internet access and sattelite TV and breakfast is served until 1pm either in your rooom, in the 'music room' or on the delightful roof terrace that gives a spectacular view of the maze of narrow streets and the Cathedral.
This was not a cheap hotel (220E for a Junior Suite, although the price was elevated because of Holy Week and there are smaller rooms) but it was good value. The suite had exposed brickwork and wooden roof frames with a bath in the middle of the large room and a separate showe/wc. The Kingsize bed was good too. The only potential downside was the lack of a restaurant but with so many excellent bars and cafes nearby this was not a problem. This is the only hotel I've stayed in where I wanted to spend time in the room for teh pleasure of the experience.

best hotel of our trip

We decided to book this hotel for March 16-17, 2005, after reading the great reviews here. Great location in Barrio Santa Cruz, though our cab driver had NO idea where Calle Farnesio was. In Sevilla, many of the hotels and hostals have directional signs, though Hotel Amadeus doesn't--but it happens to be about two doors down from the Hostal Cordoba, which does, so that may be of help to someone.
We stayed one night in a regular room and one night in a superior room. Only real difference was in the size, if you don't need a big bathroom than the 15 euro price difference is probably not worth it.
Staff was very friendly and spoke sufficient English to help us, including helping us book a flamenco show. Sevilla was our favorite stop in Spain and I would definitely stay here again!

Amadeus is a neat little hotel in the heart of the city. Luxurious is not a word I would use to chracterize it, but "Charming" certainly is.
The building itself is situated on a wonderful narrow street which is walking distance from each of the major points of interest in Sevilla. The rooms and lobby are very clean, decorated with traditional andaluz flair, and very tasteful.

Wonderful!

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend at hotel amedeus. What a glorious place, the location is perfect. Everything is with in walking distance, great tapa bars right down the street and wonderful churros nearby. We stayed in the room on the first floor, it can be a little noisey but I guess it depends who your neighbors are. We had breakfast on the terrace one morning. it was wonderful and romantic. The breakfast included, 3 rolls served with butter and olive oil, a croissant, orange juice and coffe and fruit. The view is amazing. I would definitly recommend this hotel to anyone planning on a trip to this wonderful city!
Oasis of peace and piano music

Thanks once again to TripAdvisor, we booked this hotel for two nights at the end of January. The only downside to this hotel (and we were warned about it through this site) is the parking - or rather, finding the hotel by car.
What isn't made clear (or maybe I didn't pay enough attention to it) was that the Amadeus is in a street so narrow that I can touch both sides of it (at once, obviously !). So, if you are looking to find it by car - you won't. All I can say is - follow their directions, then park at the car park (close to Hotel Modesto, if that helps) and walk the hundred yards back to the hotel. Good luck !
Once there, however, as soon as you open the door and see the grand piano and harp, and hear the delicate sounds of classical music mingling with the splashing of a (restrained) water feature, your journey will be a distant memory.
The hotel doesn't offer room service, we didn't sample the breakfast so all we did was use it as a base - but there are lots of good places to eat and drink a stone's throw away, the cathedral and Alcazar are close by, and the view from the rooftop terrace over Seville is glorious - even in winter.
Thanks TripAdvisor contributors for recommending this gem to us.

Awesome Hotel

I researched several hotels, and then finally based on recommendations from this website, I called the Amadeus and made reservations. Unfortunately they arent available through travelocity or other popular travel websites, but that's part of what makes this place a true hidden treasure.
We spent 3 nights at this beautiful hotel which has a lot of character! We stayed in the Junior Suite and a Superior Room... both were really nice and clean. The service at the hotel was great too. The staff were really helpful in making very useful reacommendations and reservations. Thanks to them we got a flavor for a lot of local things.
Did I mention that the location is awesome ? Its walking distance from everywhere. As good as King Alfonso, but a fraction of the price !
I would recommend the place in a heartbeat !

A Lovely Hotel

Could not have asked for a better hotel in Seville. Lovely, large rooms, free internet, music practice room. The driving/parking experience was not so wonderful. Try to arrive in the daylight to have some sort of chance of wending your way through the maze to the hotel. We had no idea what "narrow, winding streets" really meant. However, once landed, the hotel more than lived up to its advance billing.

Orange oranges! We went to Seville in September and only saw one orange orange while we were there - the rest were still green! If you want to see the famous orange trees in fruit, go a little later - or visit in spring when they're in blossom.
Arroz con bogavante at Casa Robles The highlight of our trip was a leisurely Saturday lunch at Casa Robles near the Catedral. Order the arroz con bogavante: lobster with soupy rice. It's amazing and only available at lunch.
Car travel Get a decent map. Get to your destination, park up and walk everywhere. They're building the Metro for the conceivable future.

My husband and I stayed here in mid-January. When we returned to our room after the first day that it had been cleaned, I noticed that the bag containing all of my toiletries (shampoo, deodorant, contact lenses, etc.) had been thrown out by the housekeeping staff. I reported the discarded bag to the hotel management, and the woman at the desk promised she would look into it.
After not hearing anything more about it by the next morning, I went to the desk again to follow up. I ended up speaking at length with Maria Luisa, the hotel owner. Her initial response was one of incredulity -- she essentially accused me of lying about the absent bag. She then insisted that if the objects in the bag were of value to me, I should have kept them in the room's safe! (Don't you always store your shampoo in a hotel safe when you travel?).
It was clear that she was not going to address my concerns until I returned home, and verified that the toiletries were not in my suitcase (which I had offered to have her search). When I returned home, I sent her a letter assuring her that the toiletries were nowhere to be found, and itemizing the objects that had been tossed. I received no response, despite having made two subsequent attempts to contact her via email, and one attempt to call her.
The monetary loss to me was not insignificant -- about $60 USD. In addition, it was a huge pain to be without my toiletries in a foreign country for it was difficult to know where to go to replace them; the cost of some items was triple what I pay at home (e.g., contact lens solution); and other items did not seem to be available at all in Spain (e..g, an anti-nausea medication safe for pregnancy).
More than the expense and inconvenience, though, was the insulting, illogical, and ultimately indifferent response I received in attempting to address this issue.
I could not recommend this hotel.
