To be able to stay in a hostal located in one of the Plazas around the Cathedral was an unexpected pleasure. I never thought I would get so lucky.
I had the room at the very top. Who cares? After so much walking for a month, what is a third floor walk-up?
It was not air-conditioned in 2003, but it was May, so I did not mind. Very clean, it had its own shower and the most wonderful thing: privacy. After a month staying in pilgrim's shelters, I was ready for that.
The staff -- quiet and competent, stay out of your way. There is a restaurant, and a lovely view of the comings and goings of pilgrims and sinners, walking along, in the most wonderful city in Europe.
I stayed three days to decompress, before going home to my family, my job and a thousand questions about my pilgrimage.
