After reading all the great reviews particularly about the food was disappointed by this hotel. Staff nice on front desk though we had to wait several hours for our rooms to be ready when we arrived. Food was very very salty and mostly extremely overcooked. I did manage to rescue a couple of pieces of fish from the griddle before they dried up, but did not managed to get one without the excess salt. There were very few hot vegetables on offer. Good choice of sweets and fruits. Good choice of meats and fish - pity about the salt. Gala meal very decorative, more salt, and no vegetables that night at all.
The indoor pool was mostly full of children jumping in and the spa costs 4 euros an hour.
The entertainment was too loud too late.
There were children some nights rushing round the outside pool screaming until midnight.
The hotel is about 10 dog poo covered minutes walk to the main beach.
Staff in the restaurant did not like the fact we did not wish to pay extra for drinks and removed the glasses in a very huffy manner.
Did not like Salou except for the fountains at night, thought Cambrills further down the coast had more style.
Liked Tarragona and Barcelona, both easily reached by train (cheaper than bus). Sunday market in Bonavista dreadful. The only good view was the electricity pylons. Watch out for your bras ladies, there were stacks of secondhand ones on sale.
I think driving through the petrochemical plants on the way was a bit of a turn off, they are only a few miles from the beaches of Salou.
Hotel surrounded by other hotels and appartment blocks.
Not much to do when it rains, we were lucky though really nice weather apart from one day.
Shopping pricey.
Enjoyed some music on the promenade one evening thanks to a Dutch Youth Band, though some were not as young as they used to be.
When we left coach arrived before start of breakfast, had some cold breakfast but they would not let me have an omelette even though they were cooked and being left to get cold.
Hotel does have a 4 star rating but was built as a 3 star so many of the rooms are not very big. Room we had was nicely decorated and the bathroom nicely decked out. Water in shower mostly rather tepid.

I dont think I've had a better time in my life. The staff clean your room every day, the food they serve is sooo good, and the entertainment at golden port in the evening and late at night is pretty damn good. The bar staff are amazing as well. There were a group of them that constantly made me laugh, and knew my name and face by day 2 after the karaoke. There are beaches nearby and plenty of shops. All the people around are really friendly too, whether its the English guys handing out leaflets, or the Spanish working at the bars. (can normally speak English) big bonus! Charlie Chaplins and Havana, idols, christies all good places to go if you're looking for a good night out.

My husband and I have been to hotel Port Salou for years on the run. It is relaxing, clean and the staff are very friendly. Hoping to go back this year some time.
