Great hotel but some tips to get the most out of your stay...
from LucyK1Look for a room on 4th floor (top floor) and specify if you want the sun in the morning or evening. We were lucky as for most of our stay there was no-one in the rooms on either side of us - the sound-proofing is not great and there are balconies looking down on the Superior Rooms balconies. However I wouldn't let this be a reason not to stay - as generally you'll only be on your balcony for a bit in the morning and evening.
The room decor is great, good size bathroom, decent hairdryer and nice size balcony. Rooms changed every day and turned-down in the evening.
The hotel location is brilliant - right on the beach with a great swimming pool. Pool-side bar and table service. Puerto Banus is max 15minute walk - and a pleasent walk.
Hotel staff were nice - some not so experienced but still generally nice. Nice to have restaurants on site - for lunch or dinner. Shuttle bus runs to sister hotel in Marbella every half-hour - this is not located in the heart of Marbella so you would still need a taxi to reach the shopping/centre of Marbella. Marbella is only about a 10/15min drive.
Would stay here again - well kept, high standard hotel, great location and not overly expensive.
Lovely Hotel!
from Lyn77Would def visit again.
Good would use again
from LythamThe breakfasts were excellent (21 euros per person) but I would have thought that self service would not be the norm in a 5 star Hotel. Generally the food in the restaurants and drinks in the bar were excellent but expensive. Boulevard cafe does a two for one on food and drinks during the day if your looking for a bargain. There is free 8 seater (Merc) takes guests into Puero Banus and Marbella every 30 minutes. There are a lot of hotels claiming to be 5 stars in the world and this is not up among the best that say London or the USA can offer, however, it is the best Hotel I have stayed in in Spain and I would use it again when I next visit Puerto Banus (if the prices don't become too silly). If you do spend any time there just visit the toilets (down one floor using the lift at the side of the entrance to the cocktail bar see what you think - Toilets with a view!
So Promising - But Ultimately Disappointing
from StaffsTraveller2Had room with sea view, which should have been very comfortable, but wasn't - the room appeared had a connecting door to a suite next door and although it was locked, the sound proofing was non-existent.
On the first night we could hear (in some detail) the people talking in the next room for much of the night from when they returned at approx 1.00am! We didn't hear so much the 2nd night, but on our final night we ended up knocking on their door at 1.30am and asking them, politely, to lower their voices.
To be fair, the people immediately became silent, but this situation should never have happened in a hotel claiming to offer its guests 5 star comfort and amenities.
Service was also patchy and seemed to indicate a lack of effective management. As an example, towels and pillowcases were not changed through the 3 night stay and we had to request the half-board meal vouchers we had booked/paid for.
Meals in the retaurants were OK, but we were almost alone each evening (trying 3 of the hotel restaurants) and whilst the restaurant staff were friendly, the lack of other guests meant the atmosphere was rather flat!
The hotel appeared to be quite full though and the breakfast restaurant was always popular with a good choice/quality.
Puerto Banus itself is a pleasant resort and the centre was just 15 mins stroll along the beach. There are no high rise blocks and an attractive port area with some very expensive yachts.
Finally, on check out, our bill was incorrectly made up and had to be reduced by 40 Euros.
Not an establishmant my wife and I would care to return to.
The suite was a Nightmare!
from camiwayi got a Junior suite deluxe because it had a jacuzzi! when I got to the room I unpacked and went up to the terrace to get into my privat jacuzzi! I realized it was to cold so i called reception for them to ajust the temp, they told me the technician would adjust it from outside! 45 mins later I went to check if it was ok, but to my surprise it was still cold so I called again. they advised me that there was a problem so they guy had to come in my room and empty the jacuzzi then fill it again, and it would take minimun 1hour!The guy wouldnt come so I had to call atleast twice before he actually came, So I went to the Spa meanwhile.
When I came back two hours later the jacuzzi was boiling hot so they told me to leave it for 30 mins for it to get warm,1 hour later it was still boiling and the bubbles did not work, so I had to call them AGAIN! it took the guy another hour for the bubbles to work but the tempreture never went down. I went in and was sweating so I had to get out!!
As i only stayed for one night I didnt enjoy the jacuzzi at all! they could have nmoved me to another room but just couldnt be bothered! And to top it off I had atleast 5 calls to my room at 2 oclock in the morning from an Iraqi lady really [--] and reception said they could do nothing about it!!
JUST DONT GO! REALLY
The staff are terrible and for the price no good service at all it was terrible!!
Perfect Setting, Perfect Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat hotel, super staff
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe Real Deal
from A TripAdvisor MemberI must say that this was absolutely fantastic.........everything was just as advertised on the website wonderful breakfast, an unparallelled view nice bathroom and wonderful pool area. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and with Puerto Banus just a few minutes away this place really is Superb.
We have already booked ourselves 1 week in March and suggest you do the same..........
We have stayed in various hotels and are extremely particular and pedantic but this hotel left nothing to chance and begrudgingly gets a tick in all the boxes.........utopia you had better believe this is not far off!!
Very good hotel
from Bel1Excellent break
from Staffordshire TravellerHotel is not yet finished but that did not detract from the top quality feel of the place, we stayed in a double but if you want to push the boat out, go for a suite, the Luxury one's on the top floor look superb.
Room a little small but that did not detract from the ambience and the hotel's excellent beach front location, staff were superb, cannot understand previous complaints.
The walk to Banus is definitely 15 mins and there is an evening rush to get the hotel shuttle which only accomodates 7 people, this is a problem from 7.00pm onwards which is compounded by the fact that taxis will not pick up from the hotel, presumably due to a dispute as the hotel effectively is taking trade through the shuttle, the hotel need to fix this and I expect will do shortly.
We had to take the hotel bus to the Marbella sister hotel to get a taxi to the airport, not real hassle but not ideal !
Hotel restaurants look very plush but expensive but you are paying for the area, only problem if you do not use them is that there are no restaurants or shops nearby and the area is crying out for a supermarket, nearest is in Banus.
Sunbeds, towels, pool area excellent but use the Mistral Beach Bar for lunch, it's very good.
The hotel is quite unique and looks to be the best in Peurto Banus, I feel as it develops it will get even better, we loved it and will go back.
Top Local Tips for Puerto Banus
Shopping mall. Go to La canada shopping mall its great, also theres a cocktail car at the very end of the marina in puerto banus, with all really high wooden furniture, its really nice here on a hot day!
best bars if your want a laugh and good young atmosphere, go to peurto banus and head towards disco infernos and linekers bar.. always had great night here and usually have the odd celeb in there. They have a wall with photos of all celebs who have came.. and theres allot!!!
where to eat Try Pinnochios restaurant on the sea front in Puerto Banus - there's nearly always a queue to get in, but it's worth the wait!
