Stop Moaning Its A Nice Hotel With Lovely Stafffrom Gumblejum
We have been to GC loads of times and this time we went half board at the GCP. While I can agree that the building is getting a bit dated and the chrome is starting to wear off the taps, everything else about the place was really great. We met the nicest mother and son anyone could want to meet and they had stayed at the GCP at least half a dozen times.ALL of the staff were most helpful and friendly and couldnt do enough to make your holiday enjoyable. It was my wifes birthday while there and a most unexpected present was left in the room by the management,a nice cold bottle of bubbly and a nice letter wishing her a nice stay and a happy birthday.Food was so abundant and so well presented we only once went out for a meal.Rooms were cleaned every day and linen changed every other.
The bed clothes and towels were all arranged in various displays every day. Nice little touches like this stand out.Yes there is only three tiny lifts but it was funny when all the fatties tried to squeeze in and the warning buzzer sounded and they had to decide who was getting out cos it was too heavy.Good safety feature. Dont knock the stairs it helps you lose the weight you put on with all the wonderfull food. The choice of food was enormous. It was EAT, DRINK, SLEEP all the time FANTASTIC.Keep an eye out for the best barman on the island called BADARA . Keep an eye out in the restuarant for THE PENGUIN AND MR BEAN. Its nice to be taken to your table with courtesy by Maitre D NICKNAMED The Penguin He's a Great Guy.
HAVE A GREAT TIME WE DID and all the staff helped.
Worth Consideringfrom trollhunter
Only three lifts that at best can manage 6 people - mostly 4 and probably only 2 with large suitcases! When checking in or going for breakfast/dinner this proved a bit of a nightmare (as we were on the top floor) but with a deep breath and some patience you can cope with it (or get lots of exercise on the stairs!!)
Agreeing with several other reviews, the surrounding area is a bit 'tourist'. English/Irish bars, gift shops, crazy golf etc and would probably be very 18-30's during the peak summer months. We didn't really find anywhere traditional/quality to eat out - however, we were very lazy and stayed very local.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and there always seemed to be cleaners checking the toilets, communal areas, bins etc and maintenance men ensuring anything that needed looking at did do. The pool was checked daily and was very clean.
The entertainment in the hotel was mixed. Being a very German and more senior persons orientated package hotel you had the usual monotone singers, singing songs that have been sung in Spanish resorts since 1970!! But, to be fair there were 2/3 acts per night and quite a few acts were pretty good and entertaining. (Particularly the underwear fashion show and show girls! - maybe a bit too male orientated!)
Food was varied and generally pretty good. No complaints to mention really - if I was being overly picky I found some dishes too salty for my taste, but there was enough choice to have some thing else.
Overall a good break for both of us and no particular complaints.

True, the rooms were clean and there are anough sunbeds for everyone (at least in late feb anyway)but that's where the good things ended in our opinion. We found the food to be the worst we have ever experienced. We spent most of the holiday between the chemists and the toilets. By the middle of our week, we decided to stop eating there altogether: we were starting to feel ill as soon as we entered the dining hall. True, the queues to eat were long but to be fair the dining staff did manage well. The annoying thing, however, was watching the huge numbers of German guests cruise into the hall without queuing like everyone else. We found the staff to be unfriendly and rude at best. We were considerably younger than everyone else staying in the hotel and started to realise that the senior citizens staying in the hotel were recieving far better service than we were. - With respect, the Travel Agents should only recommend this hotel to pensioners because it is certainly not suitable for a couple in their 30s. The lifts were entirely inadequate for that size of hotel and the entertainment reminded me of "Pheonix Nights" without the comedy.
I want to go on but you get the picture: we weren't impressed at all. We are seasoned Canary Island travellers but will not go to the "Princess" again - It really is nothing special in our opinion and you can get a lot better for a lot less money.
not a four star hotelfrom A TripAdvisor Member
On arrival we had to queue for three tiny lifts each accommadating two people with luggage, this in a hotel with I believe is catering for a thousand guests.
The next morning on going for breakfast we had to join a queue of at least eighty others waiting for a table.
Eventually on entering the restaurant we were shown to a tiny table flush against a wall, which made getting to the buffet through the tightly packed tables and chairs nigh impossible.
Although the food was ok every meal time had huge queues and was more consistant with a holiday camp than than any previous four star hotel iv'e been to.
My wife who has a cat phobia was horrified to discover cats were free to roam the the BAR and pool areas.
If you are traveller who likes the finer things in life do not conemplate this hotel.

Top Local Tips for Playa del Ingles
Weather in February The weather was about 22 in the day and 18 at night. We had one rainy day and it did feel quite chilly that day.
yumbo shopping centre good places to eat but we aware that downstairs there are many bars and most of them are gay bars, very friendly , very safe to walk about at night and many bars inc irish and british ones.
Just Say NO! Wear a Tshirt that says NO THANKS! You get pestered by so may people trying to sell you things and get you in their bars/on their excursions etc. They won't leave you alone and it gets very tedious!
