Top Local Tips for Palma de Mallorca

Exploring Mallorca by public transport You can't reach all of Mallorca easily by public transport but you can reach a number of the main sights particularly in the west of the island. The tourist information office will give you all the timetables you need. There is a good bus service to Valldemosa and Deia and a marvellous characterful train to Soller which links with a trolley bus to Puerto Soller. There is a good ordinary train service to the central area of the island. We hired bikes in Palma and took them on the train to Inca and then did a route around the central area, coming home from Petra. Outside the resort areas Mallorca is amazingly unspoilt. The mountains are beautiful and if you go in February, the weather isn't bad, it isn't busy and you can see the wonderful almond blosson.

Bus tickets Buy a 10-journey bus ticket from shops with the logo "EMT": save 30cent a trip and avoid hunting for change for each journey. The buses are easy to use: there are electronic signs and announcements on board advising of the next stop and many stops have real-time displays of when the next bus is due.

Airport / hotel transfer We booked online the transfer - first time had done so - lady was waiting as we came out of arrivals @ Palma with name card - taken direct to her taxi. On return Taxi bang on time.
