I have recently come home from a three-week stay at the Hotel Nerja Club. My friend and I were happy with our room and thought the green decoration was cheerful. We ejoyed the constant hot bath water in the evening. Wewere pleasantly surprised to find that the airconditioner was also a heater. We only needed to use it once during a very chilly night. The beds were confortable with plenty of warm blankets should it get cold. We both slept very well. The walk to the beach was steep but we were more interested in walking round the town than sitting on beaches so it did not matter. Taken slowly the walk down the hill to the town was interesting and we used the supermarket over the road from the hotel to buy various bits and pieces. We enjoyed the comfort of the public rooms. They were very pleasantly decorated and comfortable, expecially during the day when it rained. We holed ourselves up there with our books and constant cups of tea. We enjoyed our meals. There was an a huge choice of food for breakfast. It was possible to indulge in either a Spanish syle breakfast with sausage, cheese and ham or an English fry-up with everything in between. I particularly enjoyed the scambled eggs. The fruit and yoghurt was refreshing. We also thought the variety of courses offered in the evening was magnificent. It was possible to build an English main course with beans, potatoes and gravy or a Spanish meal. Each evening there were the makings of a delicious salad. Soup was followed by a choice of fish, pork or chicken and, on occasions, fish in champagne sauce,half shoulders of baby lamb or steak. The house wine was very nice and not expensive. Both Barbara and I thought the staff were helpful and cheerful. I was grateful when the kitchen provided a supper for Barbara when she missed dinner and for providing us with an early breakfast on the day we went to the Alhambra. The members of staff who manned the front desk were always very helpful especially when we were looking for sights to visit. I was asked, as I left for the airport, if I would come again. Not only would we both come again but I will recommend the hotel to any one who asks me for a good place to stay in Spain. 25th March 2010 Susan Normington
