Affordable rooms but just adequate service

The rooms and the pricing were perfect. Family was staying at the 5 star next door (Balcone Europa) and the rooms were pretty much identical, although there is no direct beach access it is a minute walk . The setting of the village is beautiful. The only downfall was the service or lack off. The restaurant staff (who are also the reception staff) seem miserable and are pretty rude. Don't be in a rush as you can wait a very long time for food or the bill. However in saying that the hostal ( don't be put of by the name it is a hotel) was well worth the price and if I was to go back, I would likely be staying there rather than it's double the price neighbour.

We have stayed at the Marissal repeatedly since their opening in 1998 and wouldn’t think of going anywhere else in Nerja. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, fresh and well appointed. The addition of a lift has given a boost to what was already a brilliant place to stay.
