from lydia01Totally relaxing and enjoyable holiday
from OsmondWe were very pleased with the facilities. We stayed in a self-catering appartment, without a pool view, which we found very peaceful and preferred. The only negative comment is that the we feel the appartment would be a little cramped should 4 adults stay, however, because it was just the two of us, there was plenty of room. The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were helpful and friendly. The appartment was cleaned 12 days out of the 14 we stayed and the sheets changed 3 times.
The pool area is fantastic! We tended to sit up on the grassed area under the trees and happily spent every afternoon pleasantly dozing in the shade. The swimming pool was lovely and very welcome in the heat. It was also open to 8.30pm so a late swim was possible before preparing for the evening outing. We saw a selection of the entertainment and particulary enjoyed the Abba Emotion and the BeeGees tribute bands. Most evenings we walked to the Marina (approx 15 mins stroll) and sampled the food and hospitality on offer there. We met some lovely people and thoroughly enjoyed the area. We would recommend the Hotel Princesa Playa to couples (in their prime!) and also to families. We are already making arrangements to return next summer.
Will return
from OzboundWe were in a self-catering apartment but ate at the hotel most nights. The apartment living area is quite small but adequate and we spent little time in it during the day anyway. The air-conditioning was pretty quiet, effective and very necessary as it was very hot for the whole fortnight. We did ask for an apartment with a pool view ( I suspect everyone does) and although we were on the pool side of the building any view was totally obscured by trees. This did make the balcony feel very private though.
The pool area is lovely and large so never seemed over-crowded. There are loads of sunbeds but certain positions, like under the tree shade on the apartment side, were reserved early. Staff were superb throughout.
Food was plentiful and varied although some nights were better than others. Dishes were restocked quickly and queues short if any at all.
There is a good programme of activities during the day and I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of evening entertainment. We particularly liked the Chinese acrobats and Temptations tribute group, and the hotel animation teams own shows were well-received.
The nearby beach got very crowded by mid-morning but was very pleasant for an early-morning swim. It was very hard to persuade any of my family to leave that lovely pool though.
There is a well-stocked supermarket very close to the back of the complex, close to the beach and a good hypermarket at Cuitadella. The resort itself has a nice feel to it, very family -orientated, and it was very pleasant to stroll around the harbour in the evening.
The best!!!

from Northernlights59What a Nice Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe Marina was about a 15 minute walk and had lots of bars and restuarants. The bus outside the hotel ran about every 20/25 minutes to take you to Citedella, and was very reasonably priced.
Now the biggest BUT, We found that if you went there thinking that 4* would afford you that little bit of luxury when in came to meal times, you would be disappointed, it was a bit of a free for all. The food although hot, and usually plentiful, was always a mish mash of bits and pieces, and although mostly tasty, was not up to restaurant quality. The Staff, were run off their feet, and only one woman was topping up the buffet area, and often things would run out and you would have to wait, or chose something else before the rest of your meal went cold. We were extremely disappointed with this aspect of our holiday. I would also say, that if you are a non smoker, we found it particularly difficult, the same concerns don't seem to bother them, as here at home, although the restaurant was segregated!. We don't think we personally would go again, but it would be fantastic for parents with small children, up to about 8 years old and have to say that the Cosmos team were wonderful with the children and Sara was always on hand during the day and they were contactable evening if required. Good job to them.
Absolutely fantastic

from A TripAdvisor MemberTop Local Tips for Ciutadella de Menorca
Driving a real pleasure Menorca is just two and a bit hours away. It is a great Island however don't spend your time by the pool all daytake advantage of the brilliant empty newly re-surfaced main road (in progress) it puts our roads here in the UK to shame, hire a car and explore what Menorca has to offer and enjoy.
Rent at the resort Car rental firms are numerous and competitive. Consider a local resort rental company which includes everything and no insurance excess. A small car is all you need to get 4 people around the island cheaply and comfortably. It will add so much to your holiday to experience those isolated beaches and the many historic sites!
Fiesta! If you get the opportunity to experience a Menorcan fiesta then do try as they are friendly, fun, relaxed and very Spanish with great food and drink. Make sure that you try to local tipple - Pomada made from Xon Xoriguer gin.

First of all: Do not even consider going to this hotel unless you are bringing children! It is not the place for singles or couples travelling without children. There are children everywhere at every time, and the entire hotel is geared towards them.
My wife and I stayed at the Princesa Playa together with our two year old son, so we thought that the child focus was rather nice.
The good thing about this hotel is the pool area. It is big and child-friendly. Our son truly enjoyed himself there.
However, this was the only good thing about the hotel. The absolute worst was the food. The breakfast buffet was not at all up to par with other buffets I have had at other hotels. They also served a buffet-style lunch or dinner, where we found very few edible dishes. The pool bar also served something they claimed was lunch. I had canneloni with some grey mush inside that didn't taste a thing. God only knows what it was made up of.
The rooms were small and situated along looong corridors. Since the doors were far from soundproof, it was sometimes quite difficult to sleep due to the commotion outside.
The staff was OK, but not more than that. Most of the time they seemed to lack a feeling for true service.
We also felt like the hotel was trying to squeeze some extra bucks from us all the time. Two examples: You had to pay for use of the safety box and you also had to *rent* towels.
In short: If you have expectations along the lines of a four-star establishment, I would recommend against choosing the Princesa Playa. And oh, did I mention that you should ONLY go here if you have children? ;-)
