Recently Stayed at this Hotel and found it exceptional for quality of Accommodation and service and all other facilities. The Staff were exceptionally helpful, and the standard of the restaurant and food was also exceptional. The general condition of the hotel was beyond reproach.

Good Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have stayed at this hotel about four times it is in a good location for puerto banus harbour about a five-ten minute walk, rooms are good quality and are very clean. You can also get very good rates out of season. I will be staying there again this year.

Lovely two weeks at Andalucia Plaza

from scotsbluebell
This is a very good 4 star Hotel in an excellent position, a nice walking distance to Puerto Banus via a subway - no dangerous roads to cross. We stayed half board, so were not often out at night but the entertainment in hotel was pretty good. A good choice of food, always something to suit everyone, the main gripe for me was too much fish soup! The pool area is lovely with lots of sun loungers and plenty sunny and shady spots. It was very noisy the middle weekend due to masses of English fellas shouting, swearing and throwing each other in the pool fully clothed. By Monday it was nice and peaceful again when they left for home. The rooms in hotel are very nice, we had a junior suite which was very roomy with a lovely marble bathroom. The staff in general were friendly and helpful, and it was no problem when we asked to keep the room later because we had an evening flight. We would definitely stay at Andalucia Plaza again for lots of reasons, and would give it a big recommendation. To make things even better, we had superb weather - glorious sunshine every day which we were not expecting in April, so that was a big bonus. Do not be put off by the busy motorway, our room was right above it and once the windows were closed we couldn't hear the traffic. Looking forward to our next visit!

Fabulous hotel

We have stayed twice at this hotel and can't understand why it is not 5star. The first time we were upgraded to a suite which was lovely. On our last visit in October 2004 we were given three rooms to choose from. Rooms beautifully decorated and comfortable. Bathroom newly fitted.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Food is excellent, and you could have anything you wanted to eat. Position very good - ten minute walk to marina where you can 'people & car watch' from one of the numerous bars. Only complaint I have is that my husband wouldn't let me go into casino on our second visit to this splendid hotel. Pool area very attractive with plenty of shade if needed under beautiful palm trees. We will definitely return & have joined the H10 club. Carol & Stephen, Jersey.

Brilliant hotel!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My partner and I visited this hotel early March 2005. It was lovely and despite some of the other reviews I couldn't fault it and we have been in many hotels over the world.

Yes the rooms aren't huge but why are you in your room anyway!! they are exactly as you see in the brochure and certainly no smaller than usual. They are comfy and the bathrooms are beautifully finished. There is aircon for the summer and heating for the winters months at no extra charge. There is a mini bar we didn't have drinks as they are, as normal more expensive but we did store our own drinks in the fridge which was great. If you can get a room overlooking the pool these are best as you get a pool view, mountain view and sea view all in one. The road is a bit noisy but you do get used to it and it doesn't spoil anything.

The food is absolutely excellent and I don't eat red meat or salad and there were at least three options each night for me - also as well as the lovely buffett (my goodness the cakes are amazing!) you have a chef on hand at the bottom who will cook you a steak or whatever you want exactly to your liking - my partner had steak several nights and said it was fabulous. Breakfast is also wonderful - usual fruit, full english, two choices of eggs a day, toast, croissants, pastries also each day there was either smoked salmon or pate or cavier to try. They also blend fruit juices at the end to your order as well as being on hand for coffee.

With your evening meal they ask you to sign a chit and you pay for your drinks at the end of the holiday - also, if you have a bottle of wine and only want half they will if you ask save the other half for you for the next day. If you are half board and want to have a meal out one evening give them 24 hours notice and you can have lunch there instead.

The location is brilliant go under the subway and in 10 minutes you are either at the beach or the shops which are of course wonderful - there are designer shops but you can get good bargains too - there is a shop in the Marina selling morgan clothes really cheaply and for men and women try Zara in the Marina shopping complex really lovely clothes at great prices.

You can get a bus to Marbella 1 Euro each way (you must have correct change) its just opposite where you come out of subway - get a number 27 or 54 to go to Marbella Centro and go to Orange Square its fabulous! 27 or 54 to come back to Puerto Banus too.

The casino is good and yes the blackjack tables are 10 Euros minimum bet but there are fruit machines for 10 cents a go and the roulette are 2.5 Euros minimum bet. You can just go and have a drink in the bar and people watch - also when you go in the first time they give you a free drinks voucher for next time - they do need your passport but its no hassle.

The hotel bar is pricey but between 6 and 7 they are all half price and we tended to buy wine in the shop and keep it in the minibar fridge so this saved us lots. (Best shop is El Corte Inglis Hypercor in Puerto Banus where they sell absolutely everything!).

Ronda, Mijas and Marbella Old Town are great trips - we also went to Tangiers but not for the faint hearted!

The hotel wasn't full when we went and I;m not sure that if it was full there would be enough sun beds but the pool area is a suntrap - if you don't want to take beach towels you can pay a deposit at reception and get a card for towels. Take this card to the guy by the pool and he will give you a beach towel but take it back at the end of the day . Keep your card and get a new towel each day then when you have finished the holiday take your card to reception and they will refund your deposit. The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough to help you.

My partner tried the gym but said that some equipment wasn't working so filled in a form at reception so they might be better now - when we booked the tour operator said that the hotel had removed the sauna - this isn't the case but you do have to let reception know you want to use it and book it - there is also a heated pool, table tennis, pool room etc plus a beauty salon and hairdressers.

Sorry to go on but if you are like me then as much information as possible on these sites leads to a better informed holiday choice. I would definitely go back here as its excellently situated and a really lovely hotel.

great hotel but double check last minute room deals

from steffers17
Have just come back from one night away in Marbella at this hotel. We booked very last minute on the internet for birthday treat and got a deal at 91 euros B and B which is excellent for a 4 star hotel only 10 minutes walk away from Puerto Banus Marina ( nightlife and shopping area ). The price also included free entry into the Casino on site. Upon arrival we were checked in efficiently if a little pushily regarding bell boy service and received the room almost opposite the lift on the end of the corridor with no balcony or terrace. The vast majority of the rooms in the hotel will have a balcony but we did not kick up a fuss as we were only there for one night and apart from these faults the room itself was fine inside with an excellent bathroom. A Sauna was available at an extra cost of about 8.50 euros and the indoor pool was free but full of kids. The location was excellent and the breakfast was worth choosing this hotel, absolutely first class. I have many years experience in the hospitality industry as a Resort Manager with prominent holiday companies and can honestly say that I have never experienced a breakfast like this one for the price paid....cava sparkling wine, two types of caviar, fresh fruit out of season, pancakes freshly cooked to order, beef carpaccio, an array of freshly squeezed juices, cheese boards, and a full hot buffet with everything you could wish for accompanied by a wonderful array of fresh breads and pastries. A five star breakfast for a three star price last minute so I can not be too critical. This hotel would have received five stars from us if we had been given a better location of room with a balcony, especially as the hotel was not full out of season and we were celebrating a birthday. The added touch of the Casino was worthwhile, cosy, atmospheric with no one pushing you to gamble. A live band played and drinks were fairly priced. Perfect for a little bit of late night drinking and people watching in this classy resort.

The Shopping...!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Booked this Hotel through Stein Travel Dublin and were impressed when we had a private transfer to the Hotel, which we hadn’t expected. The Hotel itself is mostly excellent. The reception lobby area is impressive, a large open expanse with a few shops (jewellers and ladies clothing) and bar with comfortable seating which never gets too crowded – evening entertainment is classy with jazz or an easy listening live duo. Rooms are on the small side but they are elegantly decorated. Our room faced onto the roof of the gym – with a view of their solar panels – we weren’t too fussed about it but some might be – the balconies aren’t big enough to sit out on for a drink on in the evening. We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast is remarkable, massive buffet with something for all, you can even avail of champagne and caviar if you so desire. Again the pool area is impressive – but I’m not a sunbather anymore (more of a diner!!) so can’t really comment on towels etc. The location has it’s good and bad points – the best thing about it for us was it’s proximity to some very good restaurants away from the harbour – honestly the best food I have had on holidays ever!! I can recommend, Regina (high end Italian and right next to Hotel), Divina Gula (The best Argentinian steak ever) and Bangkok ( excellent Thai). The Hotel is a 10 –15 min stroll to the harbour, exit by the Casino side door and via an underpass. There you’ll find the Banus Marina with all it’s Luxury yachts, lively bars and touristy Restaurants. Peurto Banus has the best shopping outside of a major city I have come across – all the designer labels are here along with large malls and even Larger malls (try Canada) on the outskirts of Banus , which are a short taxi hop (€15) on the way to Marbella centre. Ok the bad points – the Hotel is located on a very busy dual carriage – but in reality it won’t affect your holiday – access to the Marina is via a safe pedestrian underpass. This Hotel is very popular with golfing parties so be prepared to overhear golfing parties still tipsy at breakfast regalling of the previous night’s exploits. Strongly recommend checking out Marbella old town for a days stroll. All in all we had a great break and I would stay here again for a weekend shopping break.

Not great

from Pete82
This hotel is ok but there are good and bad points i found with it:

-Rooms are tastefully decorated but too small

-Very nice pool area - although you do need to get out early in order to get sunbeds

-Restaurant service extremely poor we would sometimes wait for 45 mins in order to get lunch and by this time you don't even want it

-Front of hotel doesn't look particularly inviting but once you go in side lobby is quite nice and in typical Spanish style

-Casino - great you might think but firstly you have to have your passport with you every time you go in (how exactly do they think we got into the country!!) and once you do go in it's very disappointing as there are very few people in there which means there's no atmosphere

-Location - very good!! walking distance from Puerto Banus which is beautiful with lovely restaurants and shops

TIP: make sure you return towels at the end of every day as if you don't they will try to charge you for them at the end of you stay - they weren't getting a penny from us!!!!

If you looking for a very luxurious hotel then don't stay here, however if you just want clean and average with good location then this is the place for you

Holiday of a Life Time

from A TripAdvisor Member
My mother and I stayed at this hotel for one week. We returned on the 10th October 2004. And, we loved it. The staff, service and food was excellent.

As a world traveller, I would rate this hotel *****

The hotel was very clean and tidy. We had a top floor room overlooking the swimming pool, sea and mountains as we requested at no extra cost.

I will certainly be staying at this hotel again !

We really had a wicked time !!

Regards

Carole-Anne

Fabulous time!!!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My sister and I visited this hotel mid August 2004 for one week.

We are both in our early 30's and we were looking for a more upmarket hotel in an area that was not 'kiss me quick' tacky style resort.

It was our first time in Puerto Banus and at the Andalusia Plaza and we had an amazing time. The room was perfect and the meals were varied and staff extremely friendly. Infact the main feature about this hotel was the pleasant staff and the pool area which is large and well presented.

This hotel was very child friendly and appears to suit guests of all ages.

We are returning for another week in October as our experience was so good which is unusual as we have never returned to the same hotel before.

Definately recommend.

Nice hotel lousy food.

from Wudstock__69
The suite was clean but worn. The staff were very accomodating. Absolutely great staff. We were on the side of the hotel facing a street so we had to keep our doors shut and the air on. The air conditioner broke several times but they were very responsive to fix. The buffet was terrible. . What was more suprising to my wife and I was that the British and other European quests were inhaling the food that we could not eat. Maybe it was us.. I asked the chef who passed me by...what something was on the buffet was it meat, vegetable, or fish and he could not tell me what it was... He absolutely could not tell me,and he spoke English.
Breakfast was ok. Lunch was ok as well.
The Location was great. a 10 minute walk to the Port were you could eat a great dinner. The hotel has some type of entertainment if you wanted to stay in. Would never stay here again!

Top Local Tips for Marbella

Hiring a car If like me you are hiring a car for the first time, make sure it is big enough, and has very good all round visibility, you will need it believe me. Also a good idea is to invest in a sat nav system that covers Europe, we did and it proved very useful, or have one included with your hire car.

Puerto Banus Great people-watching - rich people in designer disastor outfits, dogs in handbags and fantastic cars

Orange Square Head for Orange Square in Marbella for a great alfresco eating and drinking experience.
