My Opinion on the Bonamar Calla Bona

We have just returned from the Bonamar. The staff were all most welcoming, could not do enough for you to make your stay comfortable and there were very few staff! Sadly the Thomson rep was a bit non-descript... her main objective was to sell trips which were grossly over priced and when you showed no interest she dismissed you for the remainder of the stay. Fortunately we did not have to call upon her services at all so cannot state how she would cope in an emergency. The reception staff were extremely nice and helpful. Cleanliness was to a very high standard, and this was in every area. The beds were comfortable( am told they have been replaced)ours was a room with a sea view, not so big but not a problem. Nice size bathroom for holiday use. We had to pay 20 euros for the safe, plus a 5 euro deposit which was extortianate by our standards, and expect to pay 5 euros deposit for a tv controller and 5 euros for a the use of a bath towel.. the pool area was rather crowded at times with sunbeds, too close together, but there was never a problem getting a bed; no idea how this wold be in the peak time, despite notices around to ask people not to put towels out and leave them unattended many guests took no notice of this! Natasha, the new entertainment manager, was fantastic. She put so much effort into making sure that people had a good time and although it was the usual pool activities on this occasion we did join in and enjoyed it. The evening entertainment was on the whole very good but because there is access to every hotel in the area there is no shortage of venues to spend the evening. The area is flat so you can walk along the seafront whcih really is beautiful. The bar prices in the hotel were reasonable, avoid some of the bars to the right of the hotel heading to Callor Millor as they were very expensive. Snacks at lunchtime in the hotel were very good and reasonable; sadly we thought the food on the whole was dreadful. Breakfast served a good variety of cereals, yogurt etc. but the fried food was full of grease and not hot.. dinner was really poor if you didn't want chips every night, they served an obscure assortment of food and none of it very good at all. All veg was frozen and the potatoes were never cooked. There were many guests who did enjoy the food so it is a personal thing. The restaurant staff were all very pleasant. Many people do return to this hotel on a regular basis and I think we would consider staying there again as the location is so good and we were fortunate enough to have wonderful weather.
