As non smokers we found the experience very bad. Everyone seemed to smoke, and there was no separate space for those who did not. The only place that we found any respite was the dining room. The food seemed to be fine, if you could get there first. The German residents were waiting in line at every meal, and any leftovers found their way down the line. Our room was dark and dingy, the shower was fine, but the towels were small and grey, I dont know if they were to be that colour? There was no drawer space as such, but there was space to hang clothes. The two pools were superb, But again we were surrounded by inconsiderate smokers who had no respect for other peoples enjoyment. I was amazed that the hotel could not have made one pool smoking and one not. The bar was only visited once, and then for only a short time. A low ceiling did not help, but I must admit that the staff were friendly and helpful. The place was clean, and well maintained. But it was not for us. So we left and found something different. So if you are a smoker this is the place for you. If not, avoid it like the plague.

This was our 1st time abroad and we booked through Virtualpackages.com This arrangement saw the flight and transfer from Thomas Cook who i will not book with again for reasons I shall not disclose here as this review is for the hotel only. The hotel is booked seperately.
The hotel is smack bang in the middle of Cala Millor and right on the beach. Air conditioned room, plenty space and good size balcony and bathroom. Shower was excellent, bed comfortable, staff friendly and tri-lingual (Spanish, English & German). Meals were half board with European style breakfasts which were a cross between Norwegian Smorgasborg and British and German eggs, sausages, ham etc. Evening meals were different from home obviously, but very good and the desserts were delicious. Wine had to be bought from the matradie, beers, juice and water from any waitress - an unusual set up but different strokes for different folks!
Evening entertainment varied from spectacular Brazilian dance troup to bingo, dour serenades in English from a Spaniard, to a not very good German singer but an excellent friendly German DJ(Jurgen), who played a variety of good dance music. There are two good sized pools which were excellent but although it was hotel policy not to book a sun lounger, many Germans did so anyway. I would imagine that would cause concern to many but not us, as we spent most of the day out and about enjoying the resort. The maids did a good job of cleaning the room and when I asked for more pillows this was dealt with promptly. My telephone bill for local calls was very cheap and I must expect I did expect it to be higher, glad it wasn't! The hotel also had a very favourable exchange rate but am not sure if commission was payable. The bar staff were friendly and all in all we thoroughly enjoyed the hotel.

Top Local Tips for Cala Millor

Beach The sea in this area can be very calm but changes and has quite high waves at times, though warm is not always safe for very young children. There are life guards on duty.

Good base for racing bike trips Look up bike routes for majorca. A lot of them start from Cala Millor/S'Illot. There are some great routes from cala millor to felanitx via porto cristo and returning via manacor and son carrio. The road from arta to son servera is also fantastic. The high point of the trip was the climb up to the ermita de san salvador near felanitx, a tough climb but so worth the effort. The great thing about the east coast of majorca is that you can cycle steep difficult climbs if you want to, but you can also choose less challenging routes as well.

Bella Vista - beautiful view Dont as we did drive all the way up it - it is a private road you will be forced to turn around and this damages the vehicle!
