Vast suite with all usual courtesy items (bathrobes, slippers, shampoo and soap). Refrigerator, microwave and a 2 ring electric hob. Excellent and obliging staff, courtesy bus to and from the airport. A 10 minute walk to the nearesr metro station. We had 3 nights there, with BA flights, and less than £400, excellent value.

Good hotel at which I stayed for various nights and the hotel that I would choose again when in Madrid. The price via the Web was very reasonable for a 5* hotel.

Top Local Tips for Madrid

MADRID ZOO Visited the Madrid Zoo and Aquarium and it was great! A diverse and large selection of animals in attractive surrounding. It's great to take a stroll around the park with your partner or family whilst seeing the animals. A little out of the way of central Madrid so i suggest getting a taxi to it or you can just take the metro.

Car hire Hiring a car from the train station rather than the airport is cheaper as it does not include a surcharge and the metro is great to get to either of Madrid rail stations

Casa Mingo I read a review in the NYT about Casa Mingo and it is a great place to go and eat like the locals. In fact, you will not find tourists there. This is real "old Madrid" food and fun. It is loud, chaotic and inexpensive. Do be sure to go in a group, there are no single servings of anything. Roast Chicken, Sausages and tthe house brand Cidra (hard cider) are a must. The food is great. It is also one of the cheapest good meals in Madrid. Be prepared to stand on line, but it is worth it! It is located just a few blocks north of the Principe Pio Metro Station, Paseo la Florida No 34.
