Top Local Tips for Madrid

Metro system Metro system is excellent service and good value at 1 euro almost anywhere, ( 2 Euros from airport).Don't forget it stops running at 2am....which is early for Madrid. The main visit attractions are around Placa del Sol and stretch SE towards the Prado museum and Atocha station. So long as you keep out of the heat of the day it is very enjoyable to meander around the streets taking in the sights and stopping along the way for tapas and refreshments. We found that doing the main attractions in the morning, Royal Place, Prado etc. Big siesta and drifting along the streets and alleys of the central areas bars a perfect way to spend a short break

Flamenco There's a really nice flamenco theater named Teatro de Arenal 1 minute walk on Calle Mayor from Puerta del Sol. It costs 10 euros only. It is excellent and open earlier than other places. We came upon this one quite by accident. The hotel staff had suggested somewhere else. Also do ask the taxi driver about the fare before you travel.
